Check your local Ross stores for great deals on prom dresses also. I bought the exact Emerald Sundae dress pictured, in the color emerald, from Ross for a military ball for $23.

      Thanks for the tip

    • luckymeyay

Thank you. I had never heard of Ross before. Now, I will definitely check it out.

Do you know how long this deal is good for?
Thank you!! My daughter needs two dresses for two proms.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes! Good through March 11th 🙂

My daughter ordered her prom dress from Amazon. The company her dress came from had her to send in her various measurements and height with and without her prom shoes. Her dress was made to her exact size, all for $99.00 plus free shipping. We saw the same dress at a couple stores for $300 to almost $400. The dress is beautiful, well made, and fits her perfectly.

    • Lora

Hi Carol, can you share the seller name? Also, how long did it take to receive the dress? Thanks!

      • Carol

The name of the company is Dressytailor. They were very, very responsive after we placed the order and to any questions we had. The dress was made overseas. My daughter ordered early January and it arrived in 2 to 3 weeks.

        • Lora

Thanks so much for the info!

    • Veronica

yes please the sellers name would be greatly appreciated

My daughter bought her junior prom dress from Amazon as well for under $100. For her senior prom, she purchased from eBay which came from China for about $125. Yes, I see formal dresses at Ross Dress for Less all the time. Don’t forget to check your local consignment shops as well.

Good luck to all the parents dealing with the prom saga. When ordering online, I would advise to get a dress from a local store as well in case the online dress doesn’t fit or the fit is off. My daughter’s prom dress ended up not fitting, I had to spend money to get her a new dress.

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear about that! Thanks for the warning!

For the Morgan & Co brand, I suggest ordering two sizes since there is slight inconsistency depending on the fit of the dress.
I currently have 3 dresses from that brand (mostly due to having to attend weddings among my friends and family these past few years) in which I always order both 1/2 and 3/4. My measurements: 5’2″ size 0, bust 32″ A cup, waist 24″, hips 34″. They all fit well in the 1/2 size for me, however, there is one dress in which the 1/2 felt a bit constricting (since it was mostly lace without much stretch) and hindered movement, so I settled with the 3/4 which I have to compensate with a VS bombshell bra lol.
I did need to get them altered length-wise since I’m clearly on the short side!

WOW my junior prom dress was a Morgan and Co, and that was 20 years ago. They make a fabulous product and I was able to continue to wear the dress years later.

I feel the need to let y’all know that if you haven’t checked out a Ross store near you for prom dresses, you’re really missing out on some beautiful dresses at some really affordable prices! We went dress shopping there just yesterday and we were able to find a dress very similar to the Sequined Glitter Lace Gown pictured above, only in a beautiful shade of red for $30! I had to do a double take at the price tag! They have every type of style – short, long, dramatic, subtle, bright shades, neutrals and everything in between. There were 6 very tightly packed rows of these dresses at our local Ross here in Kissimmee, FL. Hope this info helps someone out there on the hunt 🙂

You are so right! We love Ross!

We ordered from lulus.com The prices were amazing and I’ve heard good things about the quality. I was told to read the reviews & the size chart for each dress and order accordingly. They offer free shipping on $50+ and free returns within 7 days (so you can have choices/sizes). You must return within 30 days or you’ve bought it.

    • newyear2

Thanks I’ve been debating on a couple of dresses from that site but didn’t know anyone that has ordered from them

Boy prom dresses sure have changed over the years! Back in the 80’s the dresses looked like you walked off the set of “gone with the wind”

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I know! You should see some of my old prom dresses!

  9. momo

I ordered from Jjhouse online. Material is heavy and was not flattering like the pictures at all ;-0

  10. Alex

I got my dress at prom girl and they always have very cute dresses and good deals!

    • Eileen

I had a great experience with promgirl as well. They have carry some expensive dresses, but have some great deals on their own brand and close outs. We got one of their own brand dresses and it was gorgeous and we received many compliments on the dress.

If you live in northern IL or southern WI and are on a budget there is a dress sale this Saturday. The dresses are mostly used but there are some new ones. They have been donated and every dress is $25, the money raised goes to Home of the Sparrow which helps homeless women and children (often victims of domestic abuse). They have been doing this for a few years there is always a great assortment in all sizes and it’s supporting a good cause.
