Hey There! It’s Erica – one of Collin’s sidekicks!
L-a-u-n-d-r-y. The seven letter word no mom wants to hear. I feel like if there is anything I struggle with in life, it is definitely laundry. Anyone else feel the same way?
A few months ago (possibly a little longer than that), I purchased this Honey-Can-Do Dual Laundry Basket to try and get myself a little more organized. I figured I’d put the lights on one side and the darks on the other… and boy, I was just going to start nailing my laundry loads like a pro!
Here’s the thing.
I don’t do that. And I’ll never do that. I am more of a lets just toss all the laundry into the washer, set it on cold-cold so the colors don’t bleed and hope for the best kind of
Now, the whole organizing laundry part of this hamper is fine. Nothing is wrong with it. The spaces are large, hold a lot and it definitely separates clothes. The staying organized and separating my colors issue is a personal issue of my own that I am pretty certain isn’t going anywhere.
Now, I really just don’t like the hamper though and here’s why…
FIRST, it is pretty large and I guess I am not a fan. When this hamper is full, it is very hard to move. Even for me, and I compete in national weight lifting competitions. LOL, not really. But for real.. it is very heavy.
Second, it doesn’t have handles. This makes it seem even more heavy because you have to grip the sides so hard to pull it to the laundry room. It’s like you need the HULK to help you get this hamper to the washer. If you have stairs in your house, forget it!!
Third, the cloth-lined bottom… it may have some serious mold spots.😱
I have two toddlers that are surprisingly good about tossing their clothes in the hamper all 45 times a day they change their clothes. Most of the time, these clothing items come off after the pool, a big yogurt spill, soiled pants, spaghetti dinner, USED Pull-ups/diapers (hate when I don’t catch these and they make it to the washer), etc. All of which sit at the bottom of the hamper. And you don’t have to forget about them for long before the bottom is just gross.
I am sure there will be comments about my nasty mold-growing hamper above and why in the world I still have this in my home. So let’s just knock those out right now and I’ll ask them myself…
- How can a hamper get this moldy?
- Why would a mom let that kind of mold in her home. Especially with two toddlers…
- Hmm… 🤔 Is she sure this hamper was bought just a few months ago?
- I mean, DUH! Wet towels + Cloth hamper = M-O-L-D
- That mom definitely does NOT do laundry everyday.
- Hopefully she at least knows how to coupon…
You’d be happy to know, now that I have saved all of you from purchasing this hamper (you’re welcome!), it’s finally made its way down the driveway and into the trash.
Peace out honey-can-do hamper… Hello mold-free home! 🤗
Although I am not a fan of this hamper, I have not come across one that I love yet. Anyone have a recommendation on what would work for me? Please share!
