Need an easy dinner idea?

Walmart recently announced that they’ve launched their own line of meal kits that will soon be available at over 2,000 stores this year, and are available now in the deli section at 250+ stores. Walmart.com has been offering various other meal kits for a while, but these are the first Walmart branded meal kits and we love the convenience AND the affordable price.

Get convenient meal kits at grocery store prices!

These meal kits are made fresh in-store daily, and they are available for sale in-store or via Walmart Grocery Pickup so you don’t even have to get out of your car!  Note that these are currently only available in very select locations, however they will be available in over 2,000 stores later this year.

You can choose from three types of pre-portioned Meal Kits that each serve two people and range in price from $8 to $15. That’s much less than other meal kit services!

Choose from these Meal Kit options

  • One Step Meals: These easy dinners only have to be reheated and will be ready in less than 15 minutes. Recipes include: chicken Alfredo, cheesy ravioli bake, meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken Parmesan, pulled beef, chicken Marsala, curry chicken, and more.

  • Pre-portioned Meals: Want a yummy dinner but don’t have time to shop? These kits allow you to whip up meals like a steak Dijon or a sweet chili chicken stir fry, all without having to plan ahead.

  • Rotisserie Chicken Meals: This meal kit option is designed to be paired with Walmart’s famous rotisserie chicken and includes favorites like Thai curry chicken or chicken fried rice.

Kroger’s just put their own out too. I think it’s like $14.99 & feeds 2 people.

Target was supposed to be doing the same thing. They were going to have slow cooker meals, sheet tray meals, etc. Looking forward to trying these.

HEB has their own Meal Simple, everything is under $25 and I’ve seen coupons/sales frequently.

    • Jana

I love HEB’s meals! They are so good, and regularly have coupons, sales, and taste tests!

Slightly off topic… has anyone ever received this message after scanning in their Savings Catcher receipt: “Receipt not eligible. Sorry — this receipt is not eligible for Savings Catcher price comparison. The purchase was made before the Savings Catcher program was launched in the store you visited.”

Went to my local store (that I’ve gone to in forever and have been scanning Savings Catcher and not a new store), they had no clue what it meant. Called the 1-800 #, and the first tier guy had no clue what it meant. Tried re-inputting it via computer and again scanning and nothing. So right now, I wait for a tier 2 person to contact me. Any help from fellow Hipsters would be appreciated.

    • Jessica

Yes, all the time. It just means that nothing on your receipt is carried at other local stores or no lower prices were found.

      • Lisa

That is really odd. They must have just changed that then as it is a different feedback than I’ve gotten previously.

    • Lovely

If you scan it over 7 days later after purchase you won’t be eligible for saving catcher because they only check the price of similar items from that weeks ads. A week later all the prices have changed. I tried to scan a receipt that was about 8 or 9 days old and I got the error that it wasn’t eligible for saving Catcher but it would put it in my saved receipts. Hope this helps!

I just recently stopped buying groceries altogether from Wal-Mart. There are 2 in my town and it seems like the food is going down hill. Both stores had tons of very old and expired hot dogs on the shelf. And also had ants crawling in and out of cookies and crackers. In both cases the manager on duty was made aware. The manager didn’t really care and gave a response of ok. The situation was not handled at all. That said I can only imagine the quality of these meals. I can’t bring myself to purchase anything from there again. I have lost faith in them. We subscribe to Hello Fresh and are quite pleased with them!

    • Jamie

Really? 🤔 Not to say an associate didn’t miss pulling an out of date product, but ants in the food and at both stores? Ok…

      • Christina

Yes, and there is video evidence that the manager was shown.

I would be on the phone to the health dept. They’ll get the manager’s attention!

      • Christina

Several residents have contacted the health dept, waiting for reply.

Whole Foods has a similar item that my friend said were awesome! She said her and her husband at off if it twice!
Also saw Costco put some out, but haven’t tried them.
