This is a good gadget and I have had mine for a while. Do not use it on frozen food or ice or it will burn out the motor.

The new model has plastic gears. They wear down really fast. Buy at Bed Bath & Beyond in case you have to return it.

I have the Cuisinart Smart Stick Blender & Chopper set and I love it. Makes blending soups in the pot a breeze! I’ve had mine for several years and use it frequently.
Be forewarned these newer models have a safety button on the top, which makes it terribly hard to use single-handed. Many of the amazon reviews mention this as well. If the safety button was placed in a more ergonomic position, it wouldn’t be too bad. But this is a terrible design. I tried using duct tape to keep that button down, but it doesn’t stay too long. I finally decided to jam it with a toothpick and it’s working well so far.
