Hey All! It’s Angie, one of Collin’s sidekicks!

Have you ever wanted to feel like a chef (even if it’s just every once in a while)? Or maybe you’d just like to make your meal appear more uniform and oh so pretty! Food prep is so much easier with a mandoline! It took me a while to discover this fun gadget, but I’m so glad I did!

I wasn’t concerned so much with making pretty culinary creations; instead I despised food prep! When it came time to cut and chop the veggies, the thought of all that cutting and trying to get the pieces the correct size, seemed so daunting and time consuming.

Then several years ago I purchased this Swissmar Borner V-Slicer Mandoline and it has been a game changer! I no longer loathe the thought of chopping/cutting veggies, and it’s so much faster than using a regular knife (unless you’re truly skilled and gifted with a knife).

This mandoline has three inserts which allow you to slice, julienne, and shred cuts with ease. In addition, there’s a Food Safety Holder with a serrated edge to safely push food through the slicer with very little pressure. On the inside of this holder, you’ll find steel pins that grip most sizes and shapes of produce to create even slices every time.

You’ll start feeling like a professional in no time! 👩‍🍳

Food prep in the kitchen becomes simple with this mandoline.

I do have to say that while the Food Safety Holder is perfect in theory, not everything fits inside the holder; as an example, celery is too thin to put on one of the steel pins.

I have at times used my hands to hold produce, instead of the safety holder. While this works, you have to be VERY careful! This mandoline is sharp and you could easily cut your finger if you don’t follow all the precautions (like using the safety holder).

Clean up is a breeze!

The mandoline can be cleaned by simply rinsing it under hot or cold running water immediately after use, although when I cut onions, I often use a little soap.

I’ve loved having this mandoline to help me get through food prep fast! If you’ve been on the fence about getting one, I’d for sure recommend this Swissmar Borner V-Slicer Mandoline, but it’s also just the concept of the mandoline that I love. It’s one of those small gadgets that doesn’t take up much space, but makes a big difference in my routine!

This is my favorite too. I was hoping there was a deal going on. I’ve purchased several single blade mandolines but they’re not as good as this one.

Can you really shred cheese with this?

Please be very careful if you don’t use the safety holder. I know two people who got severe cuts from a mandoline, one a professional. Both had to go to the emergency room.

I’m super curious at how this stacks up to the Pampered Chef Mandoline that sells for $73. Has anyone tried both? If they work similarly, $40 is a steal!

I think the swissmar is much better than the pampered chef model

Thank you for the recommendation; going to make strong suggestions to hubby for Mother’s Day 😉 I’ve bought so many kitchen gadgets that just don’t pan out or are too much of a pain to clean, BUT I was so wishing I had one of these this weekend when I was making scalloped potatoes. I loathe cutting vegetables, too.

I love this product but be careful. I’ve taken skin off my finger before. Major ouch.

Hoping to see a deal on these soon.

How does this one work on tomatoes and Bananas? I have tried the pampered chef one and another one and both did not cut softer things very well. My mom and sister have one that I can’t find anywhere but theirs works awesome on softer things. I slice Bananas to put on the dehydrator. The mandolin saves a ton of time.

I’ve been wanting a mandolin for a couple years and I was going to buy CUT PROOF GLOVES when I finally bought one. I’ve seen them on amazon and they are not expensive (especially if it means you’ll be safe).
