Teachers already have way too many tote bags!

Skip the bag and give the teacher a $5 gift card to her fave coffee or fast food place along with a sweet note from you and/or your child. The teacher will absolutely appreciate the treat and not feel bad about not using another tote, mug, cup, etc!

Amanda, I think it all depends. I got my daughter’s pre-K teacher an Ozark trail mug (from a Hip2Save deal) in the school colors and ordered an initial monogram for it. Her teacher is using it every time I volunteer in the classroom and thanked me for it specifically at parent-teacher conferences. I think this tote is really cute and as someone who works in a school, I’d love one.

Or just stopping buying gifts for teachers. Complaining about things you are given as a gift makes you ungrateful. The amount of teachers that comment on these types of posts saying you should get them certain things is ridiculous.

Why spend $10 on something that is not needed or wanted?

My kids’ teachers just started their careers, so there’s a chance they may not have a tote yet. However, if they had taught for years already, I would opt for something else. It’s like that $20 bracelet your husband buys you for your birthday. The next year, you probably rather have something else. I have gone the pragmatic way and just gotten them $25 gift card to Sprouts. They have lotions, make up, snacks, ice cream, veggies, wine and chocolate. And the last two items are pretty necessary.
