Trying to sell your home and need somewhere to store some of your belongings? Need a place to put Grandma’s beloved table which doesn’t quite work in your current home? Or, just really want to get the seasonal clothes and holiday decorations out of your closet or attic?

We’ve just recently heard of Closetbox and we love the concept of a storage service that comes to you! 🙌

What is Closetbox?

Closetbox (rated A+ with the BBB) is a service that dispatches professional, licensed, and bonded movers (with background checks!) to pickup AND deliver your belongings to your front door when YOU want them. They carefully wrap, pad, and professionally load your belongings into a secure and personal vault and store them in their secure, climate-controlled storage facility until you need them.

How does it work?

It’s simple! To get started, let Closetbox know what items you’re wanting to store and they’ll create a custom estimate based on your storage needs. Once you have the estimate, just tell them what day you’d like to have your belongings picked up and they’ll add you to the schedule.

All of your storage items are tracked, organized, and inventoried on your private online dashboard, complete with the option of adding photos, labels, and tags for each item. This makes return delivery simple as you can order ANY storage item to be returned to your door with the tap of a button! You get one additional pickup or return delivery service per month and you can access your items at the warehouse up to twice a month with no additional fees.

Only pay for what you store!

You’ll only be charged for the space you use instead of paying for an entire storage unit when all you need to store are a few items. Your storage rent is proportional to the belongings you store. Add a few items — your rent is only a few dollars more. Need a few things back? Your rent decreases.

How do I sign up?

Now through April 12th, Closetbox.com is offering all you Hip2Save readers your first month of storage completely FREE (up to $150 value) when you use promo code HIP2SAVE at checkout. As an idea, that discount should cover storing 1-2 rooms of your items (will vary by region)! Keep in mind that Closetbox has a 3-month minimum in order to use their service.

Also, for a limited time, the initial pickup fee is reduced to only $99, which is due the business day before your scheduled pickup. That means all you pay on the day prior to pickup is your discounted initial pickup charge ($99). And you can always cancel or reschedule for free!

Am I the only one who thinks it’s beyond sad that we even have a market for a service like this in our country???

    • Marie Kelty

I was just thinking wow, I hope i never have so much stuff where this becomes necessary lol.

This service would have been great for my parents when they had to move my elderly grandfather into their home. He requested his belongings to be moved into his new room. We could have moved the existing stuff in there to a storage unit like this for the few years we needed it.

    • Rochelle

πŸ™„ she says on a couponing/shopping site. There are lots of reasons why people might need a storage unit that goes beyond just owning too much stuff.

    • LaurieG

      That was my exact thought!!!

I guess it depends on your frame of reference. We are renovating our house in the next couple months and need a place to store things until construction is over. This is perfect for us and much cheaper then the storage units in our area. Pretty grateful for the post!

Other option: call 1800gotjunk? and have your stuff hauled away. Have used the service to get rid of a very heavy couch that was too old for donating.

There are people who could use this service when they are between homes. For example, people who are in a military deployment, or travel nurses may need temporary storage for months at a time. It isn’t just for excess stuff.

Or for students who don’t have housing over the summer. SUPER excited to forward this to him

It’s not just for people who have too much stuff. College students going home for the summer need storage, military personnel being deployed, new homeowners in between homes while having their houses built, homeowners with major renovations, new families making room for a baby, people moving overseas for a year. Lots and lots of reasons come to mind.

If they charge $83.99 for 5′ x 10′, then this would be a ripoff for me. I also prefer to pack my own stuff. I don’t want a stranger digging through one of my boxes to retrieve an item. I pay $42 a month($37.40 a month for the first 6 months) for a third floor, climate controlled 5′ x 10′ storage unit with elevator access. I can access it at any time for free within the posted access hours. I don’t make special trips. I only bring boxes when I have a reason to be in that area. I have to be there at least once a month to pay the rent as well as my apartment rent which is due at the same time. I can get there easily by taking the bus($1.75 one way). I will get a ride from my mom if I need to bring boxes.

I left a folding chair in the unit so I have a place to sit when going through and consolidating boxes. There is an outlet next to my unit. I could plug in a fan, although I am not supposed to. My unit also has two doors since it used to be two 5′ x 5′ units. I only have to open the door to the side a particular box is on. I don’t have to move several boxes to get to the one I want.

      Okay?? πŸ˜‚

      • Sara

Moral of my long-wined story: A regular storage unit is cheaper in my city.

I rarely have the ability to summarize.

        • Sara

          *long-winded

I don’t drink wine, but apparently I type like I do.

          • Jeffy

Hahaha that was a great joke <3 πŸ™‚

            • chrissy

lol!!! Your lucky to be in such a fortunate place where your storage space is THAT cheap!! Mine have always been more for the same size. πŸ™
