DO NOT pay someone to have your DNA stored!!! Who knows what they are going to do with it in the long run. Please be cautious!
I think it’s sketchy, too. And I’ve heard about people being contacted through Ancestry.com by DNA “matches” or distant relatives that sound to me like a total scam.
While I was hesitant about my DNA being stored I realized total privacy is just an illusion. I did have some random person contact me fishing for information but I politely ignored their request. On the other hand I recently took a gamble and reached out to someone with a dna match and have been delighted with the results. First of all I was pretty confident in the relation because it wasn’t too far back and I was happy to help a young person. Turns out the guy IS the grandson of my late favorite uncle! Then I decided to look into my husbands side with adopted and displaced grandparents. Again we were delighted to find out there were siblings and lots of new relatives. We aren’t planning any reunions but it’s nice to have names and relationships to fill out our family trees.
Love this ! I asked for it for my birthday a few years ago. So cool. My uncle had tested my grandparents and they showed up in my matches as well as a few relatives on my other side that took it . The breakdown is just so cool . U can see where you’re people came from ! ! Can see history and migration patterns from those areas. I don’t care if someone had my DNA . Don’t plan on committing any crimes or anything 😂 and have nothing to hide ! Thd ancestry DNA test is awesome👍👍❤️
My nephew is adopted and received this as a gift. It’s been an amazing journey for him. He was on the Today show today 😊

I am a true believer in AncestryDNA! I was amazed they knew my mothers cousins just based on my DNA. I personally don’t have any issues with giving my DNA to this company. I feel our DNA is already collected when we have babies and when we have our blood drawn and all that. So I really don’t have an issue spitting in a tube. I figure our DNA is already out there, so we might as well be able to have the information for ourselves for our own personal use.
