Buckle up, Amazon customers! 🚘

Amazon recently announced that Amazon Key, their service that already enables in-home delivery and keyless guest access, now gives Amazon Prime customers the option to receive deliveries of their packages inside their car in select cities.

With the In-Car Delivery service, Prime members with a compatible 2015 or newer Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Cadillac, or Volvo vehicle with an active OnStar account (or active On Call account for Volvo) can enjoy the convenience of having packages delivered inside their cars at NO additional cost. AND you’ll get real-time notifications when your package is safely delivered.

Now Amazon Primer shoppers can have their packages left safely inside their cars.

To take advantage of this service, Prime members just need to download the Amazon Key App, link to their connected car, and start ordering on; no additional hardware or devices are required. Packages will only be delivered when the car is parked in a publicly accessible area, such as your home or workplace. Just make sure the location of your car is the address you choose for delivery.

    Um, is this legit?
Fo real? Y’all. Fix it. Jesus.

  2. Courtney

Heck no. Also those package thieves will just start busting out car windows.

    • Rose

Thats Exactly what I told my husband!

    • Me

So true. They follow UPS and FedEx trucks and steal packages from your front door. What is to stop them from following the vehicles and breaking into your car? Or stealing it. Geez people, have it delivered to your neighbor or your work, or a drop box or somewhere else…..

  3. Me

No, NO, and no!!!! Same thing goes for the Amazon Key. Saw an article on all the problems/big brother/hacking/etc. on this in the news. Very scary that you would give someone else so much access to your personal information AND belongings both virtually and physically. Give them this information and they now they have your make/model/license plate/VIN information AND your name, address, CC information, etc. Yikes! I can think of a ton of bad scenarios, most of which people would probably think I was paranoid, but if I can think up this stuff, I’m sure criminals can too! If people are scared/mad about the Facebook/Analytics problem., then let’s just give Amazon that amount of info and more! I think people are taking a lot of big big risks all for the sake of convenience.

I couldn’t have said better you are definitely on the same page as I at. I would never do that to much of a risk. And the costs for windows to be replaced ugh . Also how will or can this affect your insurance rates? Guaranteed to get insurance companies to start rewriting clauses in their policies just my thought

    • marie

      Agreed! Simply can’t believe this!

  4. Belle

    Sounds sketchy!

  5. JES

There would be no point for us, if we are not home there would not be a vehicle to leave it in.

    • Tia

You can have it delivered to work or wherever you may be at that time.

  6. Mrs.W

Wow what they don’t come up with!…..

  7. trace

You also get real time alerts of when they drive away in your car with your amazon prime packages! Lol..sorry I couldn’t help myself!

    • je

Then you can track it’s exact location using your OnStar service. LOL… thanks for the laugh!

  8. Michelle

Amazon is wanting more money every year…and they want access to my home and car?! It’s starting to get insane.

    • E

I agree!! Let them into my home, car, and listen in on my conversations (Alexa?)?? And I am going to pay for someone to do all that? No thanks.

    • marie

Agreed…There is simply no reason for them to raise the Prime subscription to 119.00 /year!

  9. Evan

  10. ds

NOt unless their going to also do my oil change but they have to guarantee all damages to car and package would be covered if a thief tries to break in

  11. Lynda

Want a safe package.. u spend a lil more time just to pick it up. It’s that simple.

    • Me

Exactly! If people allow this, it is because they want convenience and no risk. If the truck can deliver it to your car at work, then they can come up to the front and ask for you to deliver it!

  12. Josie

NO! Is this another reason they want to raise the Prime membership fee?

    • Rockstar

Exactly. All these services that aren’t available to me (nor would I use) but are part of the “benefits” of Prime 🙄

  13. J. Sweet

We have old cars, so this option wouldn’t work for us, but our delivery guy/gal is always the same. super sweet/kind. we live in a rural small town. because of the driver’s character, I maybe would consider it. But, we are normally home and have great neighbors who look out for each other…thankful.

  14. k

Yeah I am thinking No..sorry it sounds great but the danger is bigger than the benefit!

  15. Lisa

Once car thieves here about this job they will be on it. Amazon truly amazes me. I’m about done with them. It’s already bad enough when you place an order for something and it looks nothing like the pic, but then have to return it only to find out they charge you for the return. They are convenient I give them that, but that’s all they are.

    • Me

I used to love Amazon, but now it’s turning into a BIG BAD machine…..and it can only get bigger if people let it. I now look for alternate places/ways to purchase what I want. Right now, there are plenty of other options….but if people continue to feed Amazon and it kills off the smaller guys, then pretty soon, they will be dictating what we get to buy and how much we pay for it. People need to think of the big picture in those terms rather than the here and now and I’m saving $2 by buying from Amazon and it’s convenient. By buying through Amazon, you give them more and more leverage to demand absurd terms from everyone….buyers AND sellers. I think people are being very short sighted by looking at what is cheapest and more convenient for themselves rather than the bigger ramifications.

  16. VM

    NO WAY! Period!

  17. hipsaver2

Heck no! When I saw that option, I thought it was crazy!

  18. christie

Neck to the Nah!!! Sounds 1984ish!

  19. Debbie

Sure I would. This is where our mail man leaves boxes that don’t fit in the mail box. Our car is always unlocked. We live in the country.

    • Tia

      Sounds peaceful.

  20. Shannon

Where I live thefts smash your window for a few dollars, imagine if they knew there were a bunch of packages in the car!!

  21. Marie

    No way!

  22. 50ShadesofLipstick

    Amazon = overly-attached web retailer

  23. keesh

    This is crazy….

  24. Bryant

I called Amazon to complain about receiving my 2 Day Prime packages late. It made no sense considering I live less than 3 miles from the huge Amazon warehouse. At this point, I’d rather pick my packages up if I have to continue waiting days for shipments to arrive or worrying about my package being safely delivered. We’re giving Amazon way too much power.

  25. DJ

With the $1.2 billion in profits, you would think Amazon would not need to increase Prime membership prices.
