Such a great price! I might have to make a lowes run tomorrow!

It sure is! I will be heading in to my Lowe’s too! Love this deal!

Wahooo! That is a fantastic price. Can’t beat $1!

Do marigolds survive excess water? I’m debating whether these will be a good option for planting in an outdoor raised bed in Michigan. My basil, jalapeños, and cherry tomatoes survive just fine when we get excess rain.

Marigolds are very hearty, they survive our spring snow & summer monsoon season. An added benefit is the deer & rabbit hate them and stay away from the garden 😁. I will say though, they are very easy to start from seed and grow quickly. They are also very easy to harvest seeds from come fall and replant the following year. My kids will tell you I have a brown thumb 😉 and I’ve never had a problem with marigolds

I agree marigolds are super tolerant, and I live in Michigan too. They grow fast from seeds so I picked some up yesterday for 4 packs for $1 at the dollar tree.

Definitely!! My mom’s marigolds that rec’d the excess water from the gutters grew nice and full!! They were beautiful!

Don’t forget to check your Lowe’s flower/plant clearance rack. I bought violas and pansies 6pack containers for 50 cents and snapdragons hanging baskets for 5 bucks a piece. They usually have a very nice selection (different every time) you go

      That’s what I always do!

      • Jen

Same here. I found two wave petunia’s for $1 the other day. 🙂

I like to browse their clearance rack too! Thanks for the tip!

    • Stacie PRICE

Never even knew they had a clearance rack in that dept! Awesome! Thank you!

These would make a great end-of-the-year teacher appreciation gifts as well! Wrapped in a little burlap with a tag that says “thank you for all the ways you’ve help me grow” or “thank you for planting seeds of knowledge.” 🌸

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aww, how sweet! I LOVE that idea! Thanks for the suggestion! I might do that!

    • Nancy

@ CO MAMA – That is a great idea!

    • Robyn

Oh my goodness I love that idea!! I think maybe a packet of seeds or a couple from dollar tree etc that only cost a quarter with a pair of their dollar gardening gloves in one their floral mugs would be so cute and thoughtful!

Bummer my store only had snap dragons and pansies in that size the test were slightly larger size.

I went to my Lowes today after seeing this. They were pretty much picked over. But did manage to spend $84 on flowers & a large terra cotta pot. So much for being thrifty 😂

I found $1.00 perennials!! Creeping phlox which is a blooming ground cover! They are beautiful and usually kind of pricey! They spread and come back each year!
