A few years ago I had a part go bad in my Kenmore fridge. My husband called all over the country for the part and it was irreplaceable. The same thing happened to my friends identical fridge 3 months later. These were $2000 fridges that were less than 6 years old! Buyers beware

Same here, and if you buy it through Sears their protection plan is unbelievably expensive!

Too bad there’s no water dispenser in the fridge.

    • Belle

      oh bummer!

  3. Jen

I wouldn’t touch Kenmore appliances. They fail way too often.

  4. Rockstar

Seriously surprised about all the hate for Kenmore. Most of my appliances are Kenmore – I’ve had them for years and none of them have ever given me any trouble or seen a repairman.

Recently bought a refrigerator. Told time and time again to avoid Kenmore and Electrolux brand. Bought by Frigardaire and quality is now low. And sears is looking to sell off Kenmore, it was on the news two days ago.

I agree, I have had no issues with 2 stoves and 1 fridge over 10 years old.

Keep in mind — Kenmore appliances are produced by major brand names. Do your research.

Kenmore appliances are not their own brand they literally are either LG or GE or other things just with different labels on them you’ll have to compare model to model but many appliance repair places will tell you that they’re actually made by other companies if you are concerned that you don’t want a particular company you probably should check the repair histories just like a car

my house was built in 1996 and all the original appliances are still there, and all of them are Kenmore. We’ve never had a problem with them. Maybe back then they were built better? I’m looking to upgrade but after reading so many negative reviews I’m leery

    • Jackie

You are lucky. My house was built in 2006 and so far we had to replace the dishwasher, only lasted 4 years. The fridge needs to go so bad, the ice maker quit working after 6 years. The microwave was replaced 3 years ago. And the store 2 years ago. All kenmore. Horrible brand! And keep in mode we take extremely good care of our appliances

I am looking to replace our old fridge. I am looking at Whirlpool or LG french doors with water dispenser. I would love to know your thoughts. Thank you!

  8. Judy Trac

I was tempting to buy but this reviews are bad and no water dispenser

I have 2 Kenmore refrigerators, one which is our original that we bought when we got married. Will be 19 years old AND not a single problem with it, now using it as our garage refrigerator. Our other one is about 12 years old and just recently are having trouble with our ice maker. We do have home warranty for our home so I am hoping it will get repaired.

As added piece of mind you can purchase Home Warranty for your home . We currently pay $499 a year with $79 deductibles but it covers all major appliances, heating, AC, electrical, plumbing etc. Might want to look into it.

I agree! I hate my 2 year old Kenmore Elite French door. Does not thaw out and freezes behind the pull out drawers. I have to shut it off about once a month and remove the ice that has built up around the inside of the refrigerator. I would never buy again. No help from Sears. It was $2300 new.

Buyer beware appliances aren’t made like they used to be..doesn’t matter what brand it is.
We bought a brand new whirlpool fridge in 2004 it went belly up last year in 2017. Then we went with another whirlpool, it didn’t cool properly had the repair guy out 2x in the first 25 days we owned it we returned it on day 29.
Our current fridge is a frigidaire is a piece of crap, but for now it cools and the ice maker works. We bought it at Lowe’s better selection and much better customer service experience compared to Sears.

true that about how quality aint what it used to be 🙁

    • tinawall

I totally agree with what you are saying about the quality now. We had a washer and dryer for almost 19 years before they conked out. The guys that came to deliver the new ones told us they would not last as long as the first ones. It’s sad and discouraging to pay so much for things that don’t last.

  12. Belle

Hm. Seems like a good deal, but from what everyone’s saying, feels like I need to do more research on Kenmore fridges!

  13. Nichole

Wouldn’t recommend purchasing from sears, their customer service is terrible!
