There’s P On My Wall! Simple & Fast Home Decor Idea

Hey there! It’s Michelle, one of Collin’s sidekicks here in South Jordan, UT.

As a busy mom of four, I have very little time or energy to spend on any home decor project that requires too much brain power.  Therefore, I usually go for whatever is fast, inexpensive, and simple to implement. Hence the “P” all over my wall.

It started out with the big metal letter “P” (my last name starts with the letter P) from Hobby Lobby. I then thought that it looked so lonely on that big wall and picked up another “P” while at Target, made out of wood. I now have friends and family that bring me fun ones from places they’ve gone. That started my collection of the letter “P” and my simple wall decor in my home.

This simple fast home decor idea uses the letter P in different materials.

What I really love is that we just pick one up whenever we go on vacation or to a fun new store. It’s inexpensive and every one of them has a memory tied to them.  Everyone who comes over comments about how fun it is, and they want to create a gallery like this at their house.  For ONCE I am the trendsetter 😂 (however I’m 100% sure I didn’t invent this idea).

Pick a wall that needs some decorating and start collecting!

Grab one or two to start from the craft store, look on clearance tables, and away you go!  My favorite place to find unique letters is from TJMaxx and Ross, but you can also grab them off of Amazon. They always have random letters in all different shapes, sizes, and textures.  You could even pick a number if that’s your jam!

So for now, I guess I’ll keep the “P” on my wall since it looks pretty good! 😉

Also, don’t mind the cRoOKeD ones. They add character.

I like that giant key, where did you get it?

    • Michelle (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thank you! I got it from Pottery Barn on clearance years ago.

As someone who’s last name has always started with P(maiden and married), I love this! The letter P isn’t always so easy to find though.

Sooo cute!!! I’m interested in the large key too!!!

Hi there! I got it from Pottery Barn years ago on clearance.

You could put #2 pencils on the wall….. then you’d have #2 on the wall……..Just kidding.

    Very fun idea!

Neat! I might try this! I already have a letter P to get me started. It’s currently not in use. I ordered off amazon without paying any attention to the dimensions. I just assumed it was big. When it arrived, it was tiny, about 3 inches tall! Maybe I’ll just buy more Ps to go around it. Thanks for the idea!

    I love this!

Love this idea!! Off to start my collection of S!

I especially love the idea of getting letters on vacations/trips to link them with memories, or getting them as gifts!

It’s so fun! We also have a big wooden bowl of rocks on our coffee table and we bring a rock home from everywhere we go. We use a Sharpie to write on the rock where we got it. 😀

I do this on my wall at work! I have people that bring them to me also as F is not easy to find!

I started a “B” collection a little while ago! (last name begins with B). I like how you displayed it! Great idea!

We have a cross wall! We collect from wherever we go and my mom always brings me a cross from her trips. I love it!

      So do I.

Check out Craftcuts.com! I’ve found some great things there, and it’s all custom made!

Can I just mention how awesome the books on your bookshelf look, all color-coordinated?! Love that!

    • Michelle (Hip2save Sidekick)

Thank you! That was my teenage son’s idea to group the books by color. He saw it at his friend’s house so we did it together. 🙂

    • Kate

That’s what I noticed as well. The letter collection is nice, but what I want now is a color coded bookshelf. Unfortunately all of my books are either ebooks or in storage at the moment. That makes me want to go to a used bookstore and shop for books solely based on color. I love it!

So doing this!!! Last name starts with “S”.

I have a “B” wall in my entryway. I get compliments on it all the time

  17. Suszy

I love it! My last name begins with P too so this is perfect for me- and I think that idea up above to get a large pencil with a #2 on it is hilarious! 😂😂 I need to do both!

I have a #6 wall for the number of people in our family! Love collecting them old and new!

    • Kayden

My mom has random 5 decor around the house for the five people in our family.

I purchased a large wooden “S” at TJMaxx (S for our last name). I finally found a good place to put it, but for a while we joked about finding a spot for our “big S” to sit. 🙂

My husband & I used a large letter G for our wedding guests to sign. We even took it traveling with us to family to sign that couldn’t make it to the wedding. It is centered on the entryway wall, surrounded by smaller g’s, photo’s and some other items! I love it and often change a few things out during the various holidays

    Super cute! 🙂
