flexspot adjustable standing desk review

Hi all! It’s Jennifer, one of Collin’s Sidekicks!

Do you telecommute or work on a computer all day like me?

I get tired of sitting for long periods of time while I work. I also want to avoid two things – blood clots and trucker butt (you know, big and wide). After lots of research and checking reviews, my solution to keep me awake, moving, and more fit was to purchase this Flexispot Adjustable Standing Desk.

Why I love the Flexispot Adjustable Standing Desk.

There’s a much more popular stand-up desk called Varidesk with excellent ratings. I’m sure it’s a great one, but there are a few reasons I chose the Flexispot desk.

  • The Flexispot does not come OUT toward you as it lifts. This means it goes straight up and straight down, which makes it take up less room.
  • You can also adjust the height of the desk to any height you want with just one hand. It uses pneumatic assist, which makes it very easy to lift up or down. Even with a bum shoulder, I have no issues raising and lowering this standing desk.
  • There’s no bounce. This desk is steady – I type pretty hard and fast, and it keeps still for me and it has a large work space. I use two 27-inch monitors which fit easily on top.

Other Helpful Accessories to consider…

I also bought the Loctek Dual Monitor Arm Mount to accommodate both my monitors. I can move them up down, side by side, on top of each other, or wherever I like.

AND, back to my butt, I bought this too…

It’s the TerraMat Standing Desk Mat and worth EVERY PENNY!

It helps me to move around and stay comfortable, so my feet don’t get bored. Do feet get bored? Yes, that’s a thing for me. Sometimes I just massage my feet, and other times I turn on my music and dance while I work. This helps keep my blood circulating, and I can also do lunges to work on that booty shape.

Putting together these three items was a little bit of an investment, but it has been well worth it! And, depending on your tax situation, it may be tax-deductible!

Do you use a standing desk? What do you think of it?

You had me at “trucker butt” SOLD!!!! I can feel my posture getting worse by the day. This will be a lifesaver for my home office that I seem to spend the majority of my days at

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      It is totally worth it!

  2. Sara

I will take a trucker butt over constant foot pain any day. I would be even moodier than I already am if I had to stand all day. A standing desk may work for some people, but I do not envy them.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I will move it up or down if I need to sit and rest my feet.

I hear you! I love standing while I work typically but right now I’m dealing with peroneal tendinitis and plantar fasciitis and sitting is best!

I got a LIFT101 desk from Costco for 200 and it’s been such a help at work. The relief it gives to your tailbone, sciatica and hip’s is something you can’t put a price on. These desks are worth every penny and if you have back pain they are a lifesaver!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m in agreement! So glad you have one, Tracie!

  4. Mamamia

How can you dance and work?

    • Dkp91576

I exercise at my standing desk at home while taking calls, I can put in a few moves in between calls or reading emails.

      • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I just jump around and do it! I pause for a few minutes at a time to type and then keep going! 🙂

  5. LC

I’ve been looking for a good standing desk and your review made me ready to take the plunge! Thank you!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You are so welcome, LC! I hope you love it!

We call this “secretary spread” in my house and after 2 years of office work I am already seeing it! Due to bulged discs I already have an ergotron version of this, but probably don’t use it as often as I should. I sit on a ball chair I purchased on a H2S post a portion of my day as well. It’s awesome!

Had a similar desk at work- was great for just adjusting height and not getting bored w/ sitting.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes, helps keep you less bored and more awake at times! 🙂

  8. Amy

I’ve been sitting at a desk for 20 years and now my neck hurts. I just asked my boss if she will get this desk for me. Hope so!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I was getting neck pain, too. This helped with it and that went away. I hope they get you one, Amy!

    What a neat idea!☺

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

It’s so helpful with so many desk jobs these days.

I like the idea of this for at-home work! I have a hard time getting back moving after sitting and find it helpful to just stay on my feet. I have plantar fasciitis (spelling?) and although it sometimes hurts my foot while standing, it hurts much worse after sitting for a long time and then getting back to using that foot.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Sounds like you need this!

I have a Versadesk at work. It has an electric lift so it does not hurt my back to raise or lower it. Mine is 48″ and a coworker has a 36″. Others have the Varidesk which has a manual lift system. Both are available on Amazon.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I had no idea they sold them with electric lifts! Cool!

  12. Shannon

Does a lot of sitting make your butt bigger? Now I’m worried!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Researchers found that the pressure put on areas of the body used for sitting or lying down produces up to 50 percent more fat in those parts. Not sure if that is true, but I notice a change when I sit too much! Of course exercise helps a lot to reduce the chances.

      • Shannon

Thanks! Going to start running more!

  13. Aly

What I really need is a quiet manual walking treadmill under the desk in my cubicle that is not too expensive. Standing can be tiring, but walking keeps the mind active, and gives the body a workout.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

My cousin has one of those! They made it. She walks on it while working.

  14. Sue

Maybe I should lay on my chest. Increase my bust size from less then an A to an A. I’d love to have just even an A cup.

    • Rockstar

    • Mina

LOLLL! I’d love an A in both departments.

  15. melissastahl

I love my autonomous brand electric lift desk. It has programmed heights can set. Life changer!

    Beyond offensive…reword…

I have a harder time concentrating while standing up. Maybe it’s just me. But I think my kids would love a desk like this.

Question: what if in addition to using a computer, you need to sign things, review hard copies of documents and access things in file folders or binders? Would you think there’s room for “old school” paperwork next to the computer? And would the level of the desk that holds the keyboard get in the way?

Thanks so much for this review! I’ve aleays been so intrigued by the idea of a standing desk and now I’m really interested!!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Liz! I have lots of old school documents around and still pencil things in on my calendar! My calendar fits on top of my desk with a few other items. The rest of my hard copy docs sit on my actual desk as I have room outside of the standing desk meaning the standing part doesn’t take up my full desk.

My keyboard stays on the standing desk and has never gotten in the way for me. I hope this helps!

  19. Christy

Which one did you purchase? Looks like there are a few options.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I have the FlexiSpot M3B Standing Desk – 47″ wide platform Stand Up Desk Computer to fit the size of my current desk. You pick the one that fits on your desk and the size of your monitor(s).
