I have found this website & it’s mobile app to be very helpful. I am making a more conscious effort to be more financially sound and using Credit Sesame has helped. Also, having the $50,000 in identity theft insurance along with fraud resolution assistance included in my free account is not too shabby!

I’m definitely not one of those that believes every infomercial out there but I have done the Credit Secrets program and it is amazing! My score has jumped seriously 90 points in 60 days. I have learned so much about how to remove stuff from credit that it is beyond worth the program. Not only that since my score jumped I just traded my car in that was at 15% interest and got a loan for 5.19% interest which saves me thousands of dollars. Always check your bank for financing options. Yes it might take more effort but it saves you money!

Mine has gone up as well but not 90 points. What did I do if you don’t mind me asking? Was it credit sesame? I use credit karma but it dont show all 3 scores. CK only use TU and Equifax. Does this one show Experian? Thanks in advance.

      Wow, that’s great!

Mrs.Felix, when your credit score goes up, you should re-price your car insurance — credit scores are often an even bigger component of your insurance rate than driving history!

As part of the recently passed banking bill, In four months everyone will be able to freeze their credit for free making it much more difficult for a thief to apply for credit in your name.

I usually use the free credit check thru my bank!

Most credit cards allow you to check it all the time as an added bonus. Also use a Credit Karma, helpful to spot any issues

I followed the Credit Secrets program page by page. I have removed all the inaccurate information and disputed what I could. It is not an overnight win for my credit it has taken several tries and certified letters to the credit bureaus. They have a Facebook page called Credit Secrets. It is worth the investment.

You can also go to annualcreditreport.com (I usually google this with the FTC–Federal Trade Commission website to get their link). You have access to all three credit bureau reports once a year. You can space them out so you see one every four months. You can also save each report and dispute errors separately.

Using this site makes sense because each credit bureau has to respond to your dispute within a certain period of time. My disputes were resolved in my favor within a week’s time by both bureaus who had to respond.

I know too much about this because I needed to include credit reports for my bar application–but this info stuck with me!

JJ, I’m curious what states require credit checks for bar character & fitness. I don’t recall it being part of the application, when I practiced law years ago (though one did have to report civil suits and judgments, if any). I’m a law prof and this is something law students are surely unaware of where I teach — if it’s a bar admission thing in some states, we need to be getting them them to clean up credit before graduation!

Hi! That’s an incredibly good point! I’m in NC! I think it’s an issue where trust accounts are concerned after they do become licensed.

I have learned that credit Sesame and Credit karma did not use the actual credit score as you see in credit bureau report. I cannot remember but google them. They’ll explain it’s not reliable score as they shows higher than really is. However, it’s good if you’re looking to help balance your budget better.
