I bought this probably about a year ago and I love it. We had to switch to a AC adapter because it goes through batteries pretty fast. It’s funny I’m so used to mine opening automatically and when I visit my parents house who has a regular garbage can I wait for it to open! Lol!
Does anyone know if you can manually lift the lid with your hands?
You could but you might need to stick your nails in between the lid and the rim. If you don’t want to activate it with a wave you can touch a button on the panel. I prefer doing the Jedi mind trick and giving it a wave.
You can. You turn it off and there’s a place to lift from. I’ve had mine for 2 years and love it. I also love people’s reactions when it opens and they don’t expect it 😁
yes,there are indentations on both sides of the lid to raise it manually.
can it be locked so my pet does not get into it?
No, it can’t. Actually this garbage can is very fragile, so be careful taking the lid off or you can break the battery door.
I purchased this can about 2-3 weeks ago. I received a smaller can then advertised. I followed all the instructions on how to contact the company. They acknowledged my email and I still have not received the correct trash can! I am not impressed with this company at all!

I ordered one based on the reviews. I had looked at some before but I couldn’t justify $60-$100 for a trash can. Hopefully it will work well and keep the dog outta the trash!
I ordered this trash can from the same company the last time this deal was published. The lid’s sensor did not work, but the lid will open and close when I push “open” or “close.” I would not purchase this again, especially since you must pay return shipping with this company. Spend the extra money and buy something else from a company with a good return policy…
Agreed! This garbage can is not very durable.
These are really nice looking, but the lid sometimes doesn’t get the memo when to open and close, and I broke my toes when I accidentally kicked it w my baby toe.
I have this can…we love it, but if you put it in a high traffic area it will open and close all day long. That’s the only issue I have with it. Just wish I could put it somewhere else, but it sits at the end of our island across from the fridge. You can imagine how many times it opens.
