Party City… it’s not just for Halloween anymore.
Okay, okay… we know that Party City has so much more to offer than Halloween costumes. On top of being a major supplier for all things, well, party related, the company recently announced that they’ll be piloting 50 new “Toy City” temporary pop-up stores across the country. The timing is all too convenient given Toys “R” Us has recently closed their chain of toy stores.
While they haven’t said too much about which toys and brands will be offered outside of their current assortment, it’d be crazy to think Toy City wouldn’t capitalize on the hole in the toy store market (we still miss you Toys “R” Us)! 😥
In addition to the pop-up stores, it sounds like Toy City will upgrade its online inventory as well by widening the selection of toy offerings on PartyCity.com (convenient since only certain areas with the best potential for success get the physical Toy City stores).
But don’t rush out just yet — these stores won’t be opening until the September this year, right around the same time the Halloween rush will hit costume racks. It remains to be seen how long the temporary pop-up stores will stick around, but we’re wondering if they’ll last until the holidays, and more so if they’ll be releasing any giant Christmas catalogs similar to those sent out by Toys “R” Us — Fingers crossed! 🤞
Our prediction? The end of 2018 will be pretty profitable for Party City and its test run of Toy City stores.
