Pay Your Age for ANY Furry Friend at Build-A-Bear (July 12th Only)

Hip2Save may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you via trusted partners and affiliate links in this post. Prices and availability are accurate as of time posted. Read our full disclosure policy here.

Tomorrow, July 12th only, head into Build-A-Bear Workshop where they are hosting their first ever Pay Your Age Promotion where Bonus Club members (free to join) can score any Furry Friend for the price of your kiddos age (minimum $1)!

Note that you must be 18 years old or older to become a Bonus Club Member. Children under 18 are not required to sign up, but they do need to be present with you as a member to score this hot offer.

HIP TIP: Look up your local store’s hours here so you can arrive early to get the best selection and, hopefully, the shortest lines.

What happens if you come with lots of kiddos?

As long as you are a Bonus Club Member, you may pay the age of any and all children who are with you in the store. There is a limit of one furry friend per guest who is present in the store on July 12th. And this offer is limited to while supplies last, so it might be best to arrive early.

Ah, to be 29 again…

Plus, no in-store guest is over 29 years old on July 12th—meaning that no matter your age, you will pay no more than $29 (plus tax) for any furry friend in stock in the store.

You can come back another day to stuff your bear!

If your store is busy, you can pay your age for an unstuffed furry friend on July 12th only, then come back to have the full Build-A-Bear Workshop experience at a later date. Note that Pokémon plush may not be purchased unstuffed.

No vouchers or rainchecks will be given so shop early for the best selection! And keep in mind that outfits and accessories are sold separately.

Amazon has a $50 Build-A-Bear gift card as a lightning deal at 2:00am CT tomorrow. It should be $39.50. The four or five other $50 gift cards offered so far today have been $39.50. It is a physical card, so it won’t arrive in time for this sale. It might arrive this Friday.

I got a $50 Bloomin’ Brands gift card that went live at 3:00am CT on Prime Day(July 11th) last year. It arrived on Thursday(July 13th).

Nice! Thanks, might be worth picking up for my son’s 5th birthday in October, we can go back for the new birthday program then pay $5 for a Bear and he can go crazy with extras!

      *Friday or Saturday

Amazon only took a few hours to process the Bloomin’ Brands gift card order, so it went out the same day I bought it. The gift card was the only item in the order.

My friend is born on leap day. I wonder if he can pay his “real” age of 7.5 🙂

I called my store and they said I can buy the bears and come back another day to get the stuffed. I’m thinking his may be the best option for a momma of two littles. Not sure whose patience will wear out first, theirs or mine 😜

    • Allison

Unless it’s a Pokemon. They aren’t allowed to sell them unstuffed.

  4. Christine

They will sell them with the option to come back at a later date if they are too busy, pokemon is excluded from this and must be stuffed before leaving.

Such a nice way to get a build a bear for your little ones. It might pay to have them decide what they want up front by looking online, so you can dash for it.

My mall opens at 6:30am for ‘Mall Walkers’ – and I bet a line will start forming at that time – the actual store opens at 9am – hopefully its not too crazy – Im going at 8am with my four excited kiddos. Just bringing lots of snacks & games to keep them busy for an hour (or more)

    • Rockstar

I’m planning to get there just an hour early too and hope that will suffice. The Florida Mall is always so busy that I’d be lying to say I wasn’t scared about the lines, especially since I already have to drive an hour to get there. But I really want to surprise my 3 kids and I was adding up the costs for the furry friends my kids want…very expensive. It would be a real coup if I could get them tomorrow at a discount.

I went this evening and my store said they are only allowing 7 people in the store at a time including the people working. there was 3 working tonight. They said in the past they had 1 to 2 hour wait with this deal I would guess the wait would be twice as long and if i were to wait it out you bet I would stuff it then. Good luck everyone!

I heard and it was mentioned several times (I have been a member for 8 years) that this is the first time ever offering this kind of promotion. Is that true? If so, why would the employees mention the line and how it sold years before? Just a thought???!!! My 4 year old has 9 or 10 of these little creatures. Yes. She is spoiled but she is an only child and I usually do this when I get a deal on gift cards or a promo. I now have two other step babies. I would love to get them one as they have never been introduced to build a bear. However we don’t have custody of them on Thursday for my non blood kiddos. How does this work if they aren’t in store with me? I’m thinking about buying a discounted gift card anyway for them just so they can experience what the fuss is all about. It’s like growing up in the prior years and never experiencing toys r us…

      • R

The employees are probably comparing this to $5 bear day.

  8. Vivienne

    Why is that?

I was reading online that some people stated their stores already had an estimated 7 hour wait and that some stores were closing up and telling people to leave because there was that much chaos that they needed to close so no one would get hurt.

    • R

Yeah, I read that too. I got my hopes up and feeling a little bummed even though I kinda knew this would be a disaster. I’ll just have to wait for some sales, but my son wants one of the Pokémons and I don’t think they advertise when they go on sale online. This weekend in store they were part of the 2/$40 promotion, but when I looked online later, the only option to buy it was the $60 prestuffed package.

Anyone know if you have to have your children with you? Or can you bring proof of age? I really don’t want to drag my kids out of daycare.

    • Ashley Harnish

it states they have to be present

  11. Jen L

I figured this would probably get too crazy. I was reading one in the UK had to close stores in the mall due to the chaos until they finally started handing out vouchers instead. Others are saying they weren’t expecting that kind of turn out, but come on! We were going to attempt to go after hubby gets out of work at 3, but thought by then it would be useless. And I’m not sure I feel like getting trampled by people today.

I got an email that stated I could get a voucher via the club as long as I logged into my account by July 15th. Now to remember my password so I can see what it is all about.
