is it just me or are back to school prices up since the merger of Office Depot and Office Max? I remember $.10 sales, do you?
Thanks for consolidating and posting the deals I appreciate your efforts!

    • M

Really seems like it. There where lots of penny and 10 cent sales prior years.

    • Eve

Walgreens either. I think all the great deals are just gone. Noticing this with grocery shopping too. I’ve been listening to the news and it was mentioned that this would happen and that we would begin to see and feel it in our pockets- I am definitely seeing and feeling, very noticeable now that I am looking and waiting for these awesome Back to School deals we’d gotten in years prior.

  2. Jamie S

I’m awaiting the Pottery Barn Teen backpacks/lunch totes to go on sale. It happened last summer, just couldn’t remember when.

    Thanks for the round up.

  3. Adrianne

our department at work does a yearly back to school drive for a school that is close to us and that has low income famili6. last year, thanks to hip2save, we donated over 82 pounds of supplies. we are doing it again this year, so please continue to post all the discounts that you can. Thank you.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow! That is amazing Adrianne! SO glad you’ve been able to pass on the deals and make donations. 🙂 We will keep posting them as we find them for sure!

    • JES

That’s awesome! What a wonderful blessing for some many people.

  4. Michelle

TJMaxx/Marshalls has great prices on high quality backpacks. Just purchased a Jansport and an Adidas (both have lifetime warranties) for $22-24 each.

  5. Betsy

Where are the best deals for single subject notebooks and dry erase markers? We do not have a Staples or Office Depot/Office Max in our area. Thanks!

    • Renee

Betsy I got a package of six Expo dry erase markers for $2.63 at Walmart last week. Don’t know if they still have it.

    • Renee

There is a four pack of Expo dry erase markers on Walmart.com for $2.63 and you can do free pick up in store.

  6. Mlh211

Just ordered the High Sierra mini loop backpack for my kindergarten. Thank you!!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m so glad you were able to snag one for him! You’re very welcome!

The California Innovations Lunch Cooler Packs for only $9.99 after Instant Savings from Costco is a great buy. My husband has used his nearly daily for 2 yrs and our middle school son used one all last year. His gets stuffed in a backpack and locker and still looks nearly new. It expands so it can hold more if needed! It comes with reusable containers and 2 ice packs that zip into the outside so the food doesn’t get soggy.

    • Eve

Thx! I will def look during my next Costco visit. 🙂

  8. JUDY TRAC

was there today and the 25 cents were gone

  9. Lenore

Last year you posted the Land’s End Backpack Deal and I read all the Hip2saver’s reviews and decided to buy one. I had my grandson’s initials embroidered on the front because he is all boy all the time and running at high speed he tends to be pretty rough on shoes, jeans and backpacks, which get dragged around and thrown on the ground at the first chance to run and play! So I decided to see how well these held up before I left my review. My review is 🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 5 Gold ribbons out of 5! I will not need this deal this year because we will be getting another year out of the Land’s End backpack I bought last year! Nothing else survived, lunch box, jeans, shirts, shoes, so many shoes, no school supplies but the backpack lives on! It’s a great buy, thanks for all the savings!

    • Maria

I agree with the Lands End Backbacks. I typically have purchased them once school has started but my kids have outgrown them before they wear them out. My daughter is 13 and son is 10. We keep the outgrown one for road trips, etc and they are still in use. I was debating about getting a Pottery Barn one for my daughter but only because she’s been getting their Pottery Teen mailings and really liked a few of the designs.

  10. Sara

I’ve also been holding out for those penny deals big school starts in two weeks. They typically are going by now. Boo.

    • mel

From what I’ve read, Office Depot isn’t doing the penny deals this year 🙁

  11. Alxys

The California innovations lunch cooler packs at Costco: RUN and buy! Bought one on a whim wanting a lunch box to actually keep my kiddos food cold. Works amazing and has stood up to our active 6 year old during summer camp field trips! It expands which I find super helpful as we have to pack him lunch plus 2 snacks and water. The $10 you pay is worth every penny. I went back and got myself and the hubs one!

  12. JA

So glad my kids are older and need nothing more than some pencils and folders and $30 for laptop insurance. 😀 I don’t miss the crayons/glue sticks/5 different size binders days

    • Eve

Our laptop insurance is $55- grrrr

  13. Jennifer Lawson

Ditto on the waiting for the Pottery Barn backpack sale- please post if anyone sees it!

  14. sfc_abby

I was waiting for the penny deals as well. I am glad I was able to stock up the last couple of years. Wishing everyone luck shopping for good deals. Thank you hip2save for all you do! Your work does not go unnoticed and it makes a difference.
