Mom of 5 collehe grads jere to say you only need half of what you think you need! Most colleges do not allow you to bring your own fridge any more so check before buying. We have see srudents show up with U Haul trailers full of stuff and there is no where to put it.

What Lana said x100! Have you ever driven through a college town at the end of spring semester and looked at the trash thrown on the curb? My son’s college actually had a semitrailer where students could deposit all of the items they didn’t want to schlep home again!

We live in a town with 5 colleges. There are mountains of stuff every Spring after the students move out. Parents of freshman do not realize how small dorm rooms are and how little storage they have.

Some colleges give you the option of renting a fridge and a microwave.

My daughter is going on her second year of college. We had to buy her a refrigerator and a few other things. My daughter did her research and was able to find out the maximum width and height allowed for the fridge as well as a slew of other information. Very happy to have a child who likes to be prepared. We didn’t go back home with anything.

Mom of three current college students. My kids requested quick dry towels, economy size laundry detergent with a small dollar size also, a hot pot, ramen in the cup, instant coffee, a small first aid kit with all the mom meds (immodium, robitussin, benadryl, motrin etc), a small laundry basket, body wash, deodorant, shampoo, wet ones and toilet paper for subsequent years. Apparently, the community washrooms ran out. I also threw in a new set of xl twin sheets and a new pillow for the mom touch.
