I LOVE these backpacks and lunch boxes. My son is really hard on backpacks and these hold up! I had purchased two initially so that he would have a replacement when his first one got ruined. That never happened. Lunch boxes are equally as impressive. Both come clean in the washer. Excellent product and great price!

We are on our third year for my kiddos lunch box. Worth every penny!

I had a Lands’ End backpack for almost 20 years. The inner lining is finally falling apart, so I think it’s time to get a new one. It’s still pretty much intact, though.

My daughter is has been using hers daily for over 2 years and it still looks new, we use for overnights on weekends, long trips for family vacations and every day school so it’s seen a lot of wear!

I’ve been holding out for a pottery barn kids backpack sale. Dont they usually do one This time of year??

    • Cassandane

PBK backpack quality has tanked the past 2 years, same w water bottles. I’m in a few PBK groups and so many have been returned or the embroidery has been wrong. I’d go for a LE backpack instead.

    • kym

I just ordered a LE back pack and lunch box for my son, Thank you! but I also want to know when the PK sale is!! My daughter prefers their designs and as she likes them better, she will be paying the extra over LE 🙂
thats what commission is for, upgrading over what mom wants to buy 🙂

Would a first grader need the small or medium sized one??

    • Shontee

I would say depends on the size of your first grade. My first grade is big like the size of a typical 2nd grader. So I bought him a medium one. Last year for kindergarten he had a small.

    • Brittany

A medium one will be big, but it’s worth it because they will eventually grow into it. You’ll want to make the most of your lifetime guarantee!

I’ve been holding out for a pottery barn kids backpack sale. Don’t they do one this time of year?

    • Jen

Hi K. Yes they just had a PBK sale about 6ish weeks ago I got one for my first grader. I’m sure they’ll be doing another soon hopefully when they start to clearance school supplies…? Got her embroidered and they did a fabulous job!! Keep your eyes out.

  4. Shane

Yay! I had a lunch bag in my cart but was waiting for a better sale. Previous code kept it at $30 with personalization. This got it down to $17 shipped! Awesome

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Woohoo! Glad you could grab the savings!

  5. Kaitlynn

My preschooler needs to hold sheets, blanket and small pillow. Any suggestion on size ? Thanks!!

    • Pinky

      Medium

  6. Kaitlynn

My preschooler needs to carry a blanket, sheet, and pillow in her backpack daily. Any suggestion on size?

  7. Redgoldfish

No free personalization like they had for the last few years.

  8. VeryV

What size should I order for my rather tall First grader, Medium or Large? He is about 4’3″.
    Thanks in advance!!

    • ali

Definitely a medium for 1st graders!

      • ali

        i have a large for my 4th/5th grader. 😉

      • VeryV

        Got it. Thank you!

    • JenniferS

I would start off with a medium size backpack.

      • VeryV

        Thanks 🙂

I’ve been holding out for the 50% + free embroidery + free monogram + free ship. In past years it was Aug 11-16 range. Anyone else?

    • Heather

Did they do that promo in 2017? From a search, I see it in 2015 (when I bought my oldest daughters) and in 2016. But I’m not seeing it in 2017? So I wonder if they aren’t doing it anymore? I need to buy another for my youngest, but would love the free embroidery as well.

      • Redgoldfish

They do the 50% off all backpacks and free shipping no minimum only once a year, so this is the sale. Pretty sure they offered the free monograms last year

      • Alla

Agree. I also got it in 2015 but did not see it after that since we didn’t need backpakcs. I might have missed it last year.

  10. Jessica

I’ve had the lunchboxes in my cart for 2 weeks waiting for this sale. Thank you!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      Oh perfect! You’re so welcome!

  11. Sue

I got my average sized 5 yo girl a small last year. It still fits her this year for first grade.

  12. Sarah

Is an Extra large too ridiculously big for a 4th grader? He has a medium right now that is too small for all the stuff he needs. I’d rather go a little big but I don’t want it to be so big it looks funny on him. He’s a bit above average sized for a 9 year old. Thanks!

    • Stephanie

I ordered that size for my 11 year old but it would definitely work for my 9 year old too! The backpack came yesterday and I’m very happy with the size and extra padding.

      • Sarah

Thanks! Just to clarify, you think the XL size would be fine for 9 year old? I’m looking at the techpack because they looked more passed than the others.

        • Sarah

          Padded*not passed

          • Stephanie

Yes that’s the one I got for my son!

  13. M

Are these good for high schoolers with a lot of books and binders?

    • Traci

      I’m wondering the same thing!!

    • amy111

I got my teenager a large Nike backpack last year and the main zipper broke. To my surprise, they were great about it. I shipped out the broken one, and they sent me a $60 code to replace it! Nike stands by their products as well!

      • ana

Thank you! We have broken zipper one as well from Nike! I will contact them.

    • Andie

I searched lands end reviews and found a youtube showing the different sizes of the backpacks. it looks like they can hold alot! i recommend you look at those videos to see

  14. april

i been using ours for 2 years now and its still fine. well worth it

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

How cool! I love it when school bags last through more than just one school year! Thanks for the feedback, April!

  15. Stephanie

I ordered last week with the 30% off. Do you know if they do price adjustments or should I reorder? I received my items yesterday 🙁

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm, You could always give customer service a call to see if they can help! 1-800-963-4816

    • VeryV

I ordered on 8/4 when they had 40% off. I used the live chat feature on the website today and asked for price adjustment. The rep said they have put in a request and I can expect refund soon. No email confirmation of the same or ticket number for the request though. Keeping my fingers crossed!

  16. Amber

In 2015 they definitely had free shipping and free monogramming because I got each of my kids all of that for $17 a piece. we’ve had another baby since then who I’m going to get one for, but I have not seen the free monogramming for several years. Guess I’ll just have to pay for it. That’s the fun part – to have your name or initials on it!

  17. Beka

I’m on the fence about these – I ordered a new back pack for my 5th grader last year during this sale, but it didn’t even hold up the entire school year before the strap started coming apart from the back pack. I was really disappointed in the quality, because our LL Bean back packs held up for 4 years, and besides being scratched up, they’re still pretty sturdy. Lands End does have an excellent guarantee, though (which is why I initially switched to them) and they exchanged the defective back pack this summer for a new one. My fingers are crossed that this one holds up through middle school or I’ll be back to LL Bean!

    • Brittany

They will replace the pack for you. I just went through the process and it was really easy

  18. amy111

Don’t forget that Lands’ End accepts SYW points! I got a medium backpack size for my Kindergartener for under $12 🙂

    • amy111

      Thanks Collin and Team, btw!

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        You’re very welcome!

    • Dee

How do you use SYW points to buy stuff at lands end?? TIA

  19. Momof3

My son has used his for 2 years and it is still in great shape no holes or fading in color I throw it in the wash and it’s good as new

  20. Elisa

I’m not seeing a front chest clip! My boys need it. Am I missing it?

    • Amber

The front chest clip is awesome. It is definitely on the small backpacks because we have some of those. I’d you scroll through the pictures in their website for the sizes, you’ll see the chest clip.

  21. Daphne

LE bookbags are a right of passage in our family! I still have mine from the 20th century. So happy to be able to purchase one for my niece! Still debating the lunch bag… and, yes, I have a LE lunch bag from 2002!

  22. Pattyd

    Best backpack ever.
I have been buying them for over 20 years and have only had to have one replaced.
I called them and they sent me a replacement no questions asked.
    I really love LE

  23. Beca

I’m trying to use the code to get a lunchbox and it says that it isn’t valid. does it only work if you get a backpack too? TIA

    • Beca

nevermind I was looking on LLBean instead of lands end… oops lol

      • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

OH yay! I’m glad you figured it out!

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

It seems to be working for me on the lunchboxes. Are you able to try again in another browser?

  24. NanaD

I would Never put My Grandchildrens name on a backpack especially the younger ones if A Pedophile is lurking they will call the childs name n assume they must know them n that’s how children go missing. Put the name on the inside. Just a tip.Be Safe

  25. D

Anyone know if these can be returned to a sears store or do you have to pay to ship it back?

    • JenniferS

I would say call customer service to be sure about your return.

  26. CCH

Just had to come back and thank you for this one. Our daughter is starting her senior year of college in a few weeks and needed a new bag. Literally the LAST backpack I will likely ever need to buy for her… *sniff* Thank you for the deal!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aww, how sweet! You’re SO very welcome! Hoping she enjoys her senior year!
