Thank you, I signed the kids up, I think they’ll like the surprise.

    • Erica (Silly Sidekick)

      You’re so welcome!

  2. ecb722

Anyone been to one of these events? Is the OG doll required? We only have AG.

    • boo

yes you must bring your OG doll with you to the event.

spots filled crazy fast at my target

    • Just passing through

      From the FAQs page :
Can we bring another doll to the event?
This event is tailored to OG dolls (and their best friends), so please plan to bring your favorite OG doll. Don’t have one? No problem! You can purchase one for 15% off on the day of the event.

  3. It’s me

    Yay thank u

    • Erica (Silly Sidekick)

      You’re welcome!

  4. Brindha

Thanks Collin… we had fun at the HP event that was posted few weeks ago…Freebies r fun πŸ™‚

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

They sure are! You’re SO very welcome!

  5. Brooke

I just registered my 3 girls but only one has a our generation doll I wonder if they will still give the pupps to my other 2 that don’t own a generation doll. anyone know?

    • Angelina189

Under the FAQ in the email it sounded like they must either bring or purchase an og doll to participate. I am not exactly sure how strict target employees will be, but you may risk having a disappointed kid if they are not able to receive the free gifts.

      • Dawn

Sign them up at 2 different Targets or bring one child in then have her share her doll and have a loved one bring the next child in after

  6. KelBen

Signed up for little girl right before her birthday. She got a doll for her birthday last year.

  7. Jen

We only have ag dolls Hopefully they will still let us adopt a dog. We buy lots of the our generation stuff for them

  8. Erin

How do you even tell if it’s an OG doll? My daughter has three dolls, but all of them were gifts β€” I don’t know where they’re from.

    • MommySpendsLess

You’ll have to look closely at the dolls. I’d start with the shape of the lips/smiles. For example, AG dolls have two teeth showing – it’s pretty distinct. The My Life dolls from Walmart (which used to be/maybe still are made by Madame Alexander) have pursed lips with uplifted corners. The eyes, hair, body materials would give you clues as well.

Unrelated to Erin’s comment – I’m a little bummed by this promotion, my daughter has AG and a My Life we got her to see if she was ready for AG. They’ve never discriminated between the dolls at AG. In fact for her birthday lunch we brought her friend with us and she borrowed the ML doll for the day and both dolls cooed over and offered seats and tea cups. I get that it’s marketing for Target – give away a stuffed dog under $10 in order to increase sales of $20+ dolls but if they’re going to do that why not just have a normal buy-an-X, get-a-Y sale?

    • e

just check the tag attached to the body or the back of the next for a stamp

  9. Dee

Thank you for posting this! I wouldn’t have known till the spots were gone otherwise. My kids love these dolls and accessories so this will be a fun event for them!

    • Erica (Silly Sidekick)

      You’re welcome Dee!

  10. Nicole

I signed up my two toddler who are both boys…we own several of the our generation horses..its too bad they do not offer any boy dolls…when reading the faqs it says the bringing your og doll is recommended but they are also offering 15 percent off coupons which you could use to purchase a doll the day of the event. I hope we are able to “adopt the dogs” without any issue because I know this would make my boys really happy. Thanks h2s for posting this!

    • Angela P

OG makes at least two boy dolls now. They are Tyler and Rafael. πŸ™‚

      • Nicole

Awesome I had no idea! Thanks!

    • Angelina189

There are now a few our generation boy dolls. They released some boy dolls around Christmas last year.

    • e

I actually cut the hair of a girl one a few years ago before they came out with boy ones. you can actually get wigs for them too.

    • Julie

Several boy dolls were on clearance at my local Target a few weeks ago.

  11. anajones

I’m wondering the same, if we don’t have the doll is it worth going?

    • Jenny

I wouldn’t chance it. It specifically says you must have a doll or buy one. I’d hate to stand in line and then be turned down.

  12. Angela P

Thanks for posting. Was able to sign up. My daughter is thrilled!!!! πŸ™‚

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yay! You’re welcome!

  13. heidi

my daughter will love this! thank you!

    • Erica (Silly Sidekick)

      YW Heidi!

  14. Michelle

My kids aren’t in the playing with dolls stage. But why would you register for this event if you know your child does not have an OG doll to bring? It’s clearly for children who have an OG doll and brings it to the event. Unless you plan to purchase one the day of the event. You take away a spot from a child who does have an OG doll and wants to attend. Which would be sad if all spots were filled up already with some that registered knowing they did not have or plan to purchase an OG doll.

    • SLA

I agree to an extent. We have the walmart brand doll, but buy clothes/accessories from different lines. I think people signing up that have no dolls just for a free dog are wrong.

    • ann

Some little kids have other dolls that they could use with the dogs. People need to worry about themselves, this is a big company that can certainly handles these types of issues, I’m sure.

    • Jackie

I agree with Anne, people need to mind their own beeswax. We used to have OG and ended up throwing them all away. The hair quality was horrible! We have AG now BUT we have spent so much money on OG clothing, accessories, pets, etc. We have OG Jeep, Rv trailer, horses, ice cream shop I could go on and on. We will be going and taking our AG dolls. If they say no -oh well. It says that they will still be giving them away after the even (even if there was no space available) on a fist come fist save so it’s not like me going with my AG will make anyone mad.

    • Kristin

I agree with Michelle. I think she was speaking to the woman talking about her two boys wanting the free puppy even though they don’t have dolls. I get that everyone love someone a freebie but it is meant for kids to bring in their (yes our generation ) doll to adopt a puppy to go with it. You know us people who actually spend money on our generation dolls and accessories. If there is a stipulation you must have or buy the doll, maybe just follow the rules?? We are not entitled to everything. I wouldn’t be making a fuss because it says I have to bring in a Ninja turtle to get a free Shredder… that event would not be for me and I would move on. Get over yourselves people!

      • Nicole

Normally I would not respond to this completely disrespectful comment but if you actually read what I posted..the faqs only recommend that your child brings their og doll and that if you do not have one no problem you can purchase on the day of the event with a coupon. We have purchased many of the asscessories such as the cart and scooter. Thanks for the actual nice replies from others who let me know they actually carry a boy doll line that I will be able to purchase. No one said we are entitled to get a free dog for our child. “You people” who actually spend your money are just the same like me since we have spent money on this line…except I don’t put people down by being rude.

  15. LusMom

my 4 year old is so stoked! Thank you for sharing!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Woohoo! You’re welcome!

  18. GisMom

Thank you so much for posting this! My daughter loves her dolls, both OG and AG. My personal opinion is that OG has such wonderful, quality items all at a do-able price point. The dolls are good quality as well. This will be a fun event for us to go to together!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You’re welcome! I agree, my daughter has both as well!! Thanks for the feedback!

  19. Stacey

Thank you! My girls love playing with their OG and AG dolls right now. They are going to be so surprised. Love free things.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Me too! πŸ˜‰ You’re welcome, Stacey!

  20. Jen Law

There were only 9 spots left at ours so thank you for posting this!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You’re so welcome! Glad you could grab a spot!

  21. Lindsay

My target in Wylie Tx has a toy clearance on their end caps. With the our generation Tyler doll on clearance for $7.49 each. Grabbed for the event

  22. Erica

So I just happened to run to Target today. When I walked in there was an employee handing out the adoption papers. I said something to him as I walked by about how I should have brought my daughter with me. He said there was no age limit and I could have one if I wanted. So I grabbed a pet for my daughter. There were plenty in line and only one had an OG doll with them. My daughter was very excited when I got home and gave it to her.

  23. Jillian

Hip2Save do you have any information about a Target Minecraft event? Our store had a sign that said it was in a few weeks but can’t seem to find it on their site. My daughter & two sons were thrilled to get their dog today, thanks for posting!

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

We don’t have any information on it at this time, but we will post as soon as we do! Thanks, Jillian!

  24. Mom

We went to the adoption event in Glendwood, Colorado. And it was horrible,my child has been so excited about going since the paper came out. Just to wait for an hour and a half to have them put up a cardboard, for the event then put 3 dogs up and say there it is. First come first get! There was one other family there that got them do to my kid needing a bathroom break.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Aww! I’m really sorry to hear that. πŸ™

    • Ann

They only had 3 dogs? Something is wrong there, why bother? Ours had a bunch and 1 other family.
If you registered they would’ve had a dog for your kid. I’m sorry but this just doesn’t add up.

      • Ann

Thank you hip2save, this turned out to be super fun for our familyπŸ˜„

        • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m so glad you had fun Ann! πŸ™‚

  25. Sophie

Thank you so much for posting about this. I took my 5 year old twins and it made their day. Our store was awesome and we waited behind one person to adopt their pups! Target employees were super generous with this event as I saw entire families with a dog per kid, even adults, who didnt plan on getting that many. We wouldn’t have known without seeing it on Hip2Save.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh how wonderful Sophie! SO glad you were able to take your twins and have such a great experience! πŸ™‚
