UPDATE 4/29/19 – As of April 25th, Sinemia has closed its doors and suspended all US operations. Contact your bank to dispute any charges for services not rendered.

If you love movies, but have been on the fence about MoviePass due to their recent outages and financial strugglesSinemia might just make you very happy! 💃

Similar to MoviePass, Sinemia is a private movie club providing discounted movie ticket subscription plans, starting as low as just $3.99 per month! Plus, Sinemia operates independently of theaters, which means you can get your tickets online by using their convenient Cardless feature!

Even better, Sinemia is available at every major theater throughout the country (see the list of theaters here)!

What are the benefits of Sinemia?

  • There are NO blackout dates! 📆
  • No limit – watch your favorite movies again and again
  • Watch movies in any format, including 2D plus 3D, IMAX, 4DX and more for select plans
  • No need for a physical card with their convenient Cardless feature
  • No more waiting in line at the theater with the advance ticket option
  • Enjoy movies with their affordable family plans
  • No need to be at the theater to purchase your tickets

They’re currently having a Summer Sale where you can watch three 2D movies per month for $9.99 – that’s just $3.33 per movie! 😱 Or choose the Elite Subscription and pay $9.99 to watch two 3D movies per month, OR pay $14.99 to watch three 3D movies per month – including IMAX-4DX shows!

Keep in mind that if you choose to pay monthly, there will be a one-time “club membership initiation” fee of $19.99, but there is NO commitment so you can cancel your subscription at any time. However, if you opt to be billed annually, there will be NO $19.99 initiation fee.

After you choose your plan, the Sinemia Cardless Activation process will start. Once the Cardless activation process is complete, you can begin using your membership right away! However, if you’ve ordered a physical card separately, your card will be delivered usually within 30 days (may vary).

Interested? Here’s how to get started:

  1. Download the free Sinemia App and create your account.
  2. Browse the Sinemia app and choose your plan by clicking the “Planning” tab.
  3. Once Cardless activation is complete, select your movie for ANY theater, ANY showtime, ANY format.
  4. Purchase your tickets. Sinemia Cardless users can create an advance ticket under Planning tab and purchase online using the one-time payment info provided by the app.
  5. Check in at the theater and enjoy the movie!

Note that before getting your movie ticket, you must first check in at the movie theater by using the Sinemia mobile app. After you checked in, the mobile app will direct you on how to get your ticket. Then you can use your Sinemia card just like a debit card to purchase your ticket from the counter.

We think this sounds like a pretty exciting opportunity for moviegoers to see the new releases, but what do you think?

Will YOU be subscribing to Sinemia?

I wonder if you could gift a year? That would make awesome Christmas presents

    • Emily

that’s what I was wondering. we did movie passes for my brother’s family last year and they have loved it. not sure they will still be around so this would be a fun gift

I was wondering the same thing. we gave my brother’s family movie passes last year and they have loved them. not sure if they will still be around so I’d like to try gifting this one. is that an option?

    • ToriSC

Yes you can give it as a gift.

If you go down the page about mid way there is a button to do so.

Heads up – with the cashless feature you have to pay the service charge of the movie theater that you are buying it at as you have to purchase the ticket electronically so it’s not entirely free

  3. ToriSC

I haven’t figured out how to get a card yet and their customer service is nonexistent

Has anyone used this? I’m contemplating getting it

Read movie pass reviews online. People are having trouble with it. Many people tried to cancel, actually had, and movie pass signed them back up without their permission. Very bad. Not kidding.

Read Sinemia reviews online. This may be helpful too. I’ve found many good and some not. Specific movie plans can work better for some people than others, so doing your homework upfront is a very good idea.

Before you sign up google their reviews. Similar to Moviepass they are having current issues with customer service, cards not arriving or working, and they are charging a 2 dollar fee if you go thru Fandango. Apparently they worked better in early days but too fast growth ala Moviepass is effecting them as well.

I have sinemia and I ordered 4 months ago. I never received the card they offered. I have been able to use my account online and they have promise me a card for months. So they have issues too, but I have been able to go cardless to some movies and it has been good, with the cardless you pay theater fees.

Sinemia would work for me but I don’t like that they are taking a LONG time to mail physical cards or are not mailing cards out at all. I think they never intend to mail cards, as it’s an extra expense to them AND because by mandating that everyone go cardless then people are forced to order their tickets online, whether buying their tickets in advance or while at the theater! I bet Sinemia has a deal to with Atom, Fandango, etc. to het a percentage of business that is sent their way! The only way to avoid extra booking fees is to use a physical Sinemia card at the theater at the time u want to watch a movie (no booking in advance), but right now I don’t see Sinemia doing that.
