We bought this trash can a year ago. It’s great! We’ve only changed the batteries once in a year. Kids love throwing trash away. They feel like it’s magic when it opens.
We have two of these & love them, considering a third for another room. We previously had a square one but like this one better, because the mouth is wider. It can fit a medium-sized pizza box. It also seems so much easier to pull a completely-stuffed trash bag out to put in a new one.
Have this trash can & love it! I have a dog that liked to get in the trash so this has helped with no trash tipped over & everywhere.
I have this in silver and absolutely love it. Even with a two year old constantly pressing the buttons it has held on strong.

Hello Hip2save I bought a trash can similar to this that you posted at the beginning of the year and it looks to be the exact same as the rakuten type shown and it has been awesome and want another one for my kitchen upstairs. I did a ebay search and I am unsure if this is the same model shown in your post but it looks the same as the one I bought from your prior post. Hope this helps!

I seriously can not recommend this enough! My kids have gotten much better about throwing away trash since we purchased one. We’ve had ours over a month – gets ton of use – and have not needed to change the batteries yet. It is great for keeping the dog out of the trash. It stops us all from filling the trash bag up too much. Plus you can throw away things like eggshells easily without having to touch the top of the lid to open it

Piece of junk. Warped right away. Lid wouldn’t stay on and would pop off and hit the floor (not a nice surprise in the middle of the night). Would randomly open and close when no one was near it. Customer service was horrible. Wouldn’t fix it unless we sent it back at my cost, which would have cost more than what we paid for it. Lasted about 2 weeks before we threw in the towel and took the top off and used it that way. Then we trashed the whole thing and now use a step to open trashcan.

I have three of them in my house, I really like them, however the lid does not always stay shut, but for the price and the look, you can’t beat it…. even though the lid has a mind of its own.

We actually ordered this same exact trashcan from amazon 2 months ago, the first one came severely dented, but since we used amazon they were great about sending us out a replacement right away. He second one is perfect! And I have no complaints so far!!

Does this keep dogs out? My dog lifts up the lids and gets into the trash? How easy is this lid to remove? Any recommendations for keeping dogs out of the trash?
I’ve had one of these for almost 3 years (thanks Hip2Save!) and I love it! We don’t have dogs but I can’t imagine a dog getting the lid off of this unless they knocked it over. The lid fits on VERY tight because the backside of the can is not completely straight across. It looks like it’s dented just a bit but it is designed that way to keep the lid on very tight, and it does! As far as the sensor goes, if your dogs figure it out you can turn it off and use it like a regular trash can. HTH!
Dogs figure out that all they have to do is get near it and the sensor picks them up. Mine were able to get in the trash easier with this then our old one. Waste of money.
