DIY Tumbler Gift basket ideas – five tumblers lined up with items inside

Looking for an easy and thoughtful gift?

Consider gifting items inside a beverage tumbler for a practical and creative DIY mini gift basket! The best part is you can customize the items inside each tumbler to create a really personalized gift. These can be small items that fit inside the cups and even gift cards if desired.

This idea can work for any holiday or occasion. These gifts are appropriate for Christmas, birthdays, teachers, neighbors, hostess gifts, etc.

Who wouldn’t love to receive a quality tumbler!?

Our Hip2save team loves these Ozark Trail brand tumblers from Walmart! They’re high quality, inexpensive, and keep drinks cold (or warm) for HOURS! In fact, I once tested my much more expensive YETI vs Ozark Trail tumbler in THIS previous post, and the Ozark performed just as well!

These Tumblers ROCK!

You can choose a larger 30 oz. size tumbler or a smaller 20 oz. tumbler, and both are perfect for hot coffee and drinks.

Today I’m sharing five EASY ideas/themes to inspire gift giving using tumblers! 🎁

1. For the Unicorn Lover

Unicorns are still super popular right now! I love this idea of filling a tumbler with small unicorn related goodies, readily available at lots of retailers at different price points. This can be fun for a tween or anyone who enjoys unicorns! Please note, while these cute items in the images shown can be found in-store only at Walmart, you can shop for similar items online at various retailers.

Coffee is LIFE! ☕️ Fill a tumbler with k-cups, coffee creamers, mini flavored syrups, or anything else to feed a coffee obsession! I even threw in a little milk frother to make the perfect DIY latte!

5. For the Hot Chocolate Fan

A hot chocolate themed tumbler would be a perfect smaller dollar gift item during the holidays. Just pick up a 20 oz. tumbler and fill it with fun items to make hot chocolate! It’d be fun to throw in some Christmas related chocolates and candies, too. All of these goodies are actually from Dollar Tree, so you don’t have to spend a lot!

In this tumbler:

  • hot chocolate packets
  • small bag of marshmallows
  • peppermint candy-cane sticks

Wrap up your tumbler gift!

I wrapped my tumblers with all the goodies inside using clear cellophane wrap. It adds such a nice looking presentation! Tie the top with ribbon, secure a gift tag, and your gift is ready to go!

  2. Babymair

Hi Lina.I love this idea. I usually use cups,or the plastic cups w/the lids . Didn’t think of the tumblers. And the possibilities are endless .keep up the good work and God bless.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You’re the sweetest Babymair ❤️ , thanks so much! I agree this is a fun change from the plastic tumbler 👍

  3. Aly

I’m going to steal the school supplies tumbler idea for my kids’ teachers! They are always in need of school supplies.

  4. Danielle

I have been doing the teacher one for years. Last year I loaded up on the tumblers when they were on clearance for $2.50. I think I still have about 50 left. This year I am having vinyl stickers made with my son’s high school logo and put on the tumblers. I am also doing water bottles that Walmart has for $12.00 for 2 and putting stickers on them as well.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That is so 👏 awesome! Great gift idea.

  5. Tia

The K-cup idea is great! I would totally love if someone gave that to me!

  6. Raquel

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks so much Raquel!

  7. MJ

Great ideas!! Money is tight trying to be creative and thrifty with gifts . Love the dollar store ideas too. Thanks for sharing 💕

MJ, I used to find cute coffee mugs, sometimes used ones that didn’t show much wear. I would give those as gifts with homemade instant coffee and creamers. I have 4 recipes for homemade International House of Coffee recipes and a about 3 flavored creamer recipes. I would find cute containers to put these coffees and creamers in, and make a cute basket with maybe homemade fudge too. For the cost of 2 store bought international house of coffees, I could make gifts for maybe 5 people. If you are interested in the recipes, you can email me at Freebird912@msn.com. My friends loved these. And you can always find cute mugs on sale.

I got mugs from the dollar store one year and printed recipe cards for cakes in a mug along with a few of the dry ingredients.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ah you’re very welcome MJ ❤️

  8. Sarah O.

These are some great ideas. I was already watching for some tumbler deals this just makes me hope there are more.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks Sarah!

  9. Sandy

    These are great cups.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yay! We agree. 👍

  10. Jamie

I gifted these tumblers filled with candy to teachers with their name and our school logo on them (made with my Cricut) and the teachers all still use them and thank me for them every time I see them!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That is so great! I may do that this year too ❤️

  11. Laura

We received these cups as part of a bridal party. Both the 30oz and the smaller one with the straw. They are fantastic! We have washed many times in the dishwasher despite the suggested hand wash only printed on the cup. Haven’t had any issues with the seal or wear and tear on the cup.

    Love all the suggestions!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s a great idea too! Thanks so much for sharing.

  12. Tracey

Hmm. The 30 oz in gun metal gray is showing up for 2.00 at my Walmart. Says 4 available but in store purchase only. I’ll have to check it out tomorrow!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Nice deal!

  13. Jeanine James

Haha, the teachers I know would LOVE the tumblers, but they’d probably prefer a few shot-size bottles of liquor, plus mixers. 😀

  14. Cherri

Just got home from Walmart and our store has the Ozark Trail 24 oz Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Bottles on clearance for $1. I bought six but now regret not getting more!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      WOW! Awesome find 🙂

  15. Loren

The Ace Hardware near my house engraves Yeti tumblers. That would be a cool addition.

  16. Teresa W

One of my nieces is going to college next year – the teacher one would be a good high school grad gift for her!
