Thanks! I wrestled with the idea of the toy ones- I feel like they go SO much with the holidays as it is, but this lets me do a little candy, a small toy here and there, or a note for special activity.

SO true! Great to mix it up a bit! You’re welcome, Jill!

My mother bought us one of the wooden house advent calendars a few years ago. I love the little doors that swing open. Each day I put in a note with a family activity we will do together. It has been really nice, especially as my kids get older and busier, for us to slow down for a few minutes to do a family activity together. I have multiple activities on paper and ready to go and put one in according to how busy we will be that evening. Some are simple and take only a few minutes (make hot cocoa or read Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, etc.) and some take longer (take a drive to look at Christmas lights, go to a movie, bake cookies, etc.) The kids don’t check the calendar until after school so I can adjust which activity fits our day.

I LOVE that, Ella! Thanks a ton for the suggestion! I’ll have to do that with my family too!
