Helpful Information I learned tonight on CVS: I got a reaction to a face product I purchased at CVS. Even though their policy is 100% satisfaction for any reason on beauty purchases, they would only give me 12 cents back because I used mostly extra bucks to purchase the product. So I either had to keep a product I can’t use or completely lose the $19 Extra Bucks I spent on it. Their customer service continues to decline.

    • lovedeals

They give extra bucks amount on store credit.

      • JM

That is not what I was told in the store or from customer service. If you can tell me where it states otherwise, I would greatly appreciate it. I can print it out and take it with me. (I called customer service when I got home and the woman said as soon as you use Extra Bucks, they consider them “redeemed” and therefore you lose them if you return the item. Even on an item that is part of their 100% guarantee policy.) I found nothing on CVS website that states this. Very sneaky. I want fellow shoppers to be aware. I don’t want it to happen to them.

Sorry that happened to you, but that was incorrect. Did the cashier continue on with the refund? I just did a return a few days ago on some foundation that was too dark. Had no problem with my return. What you pay out of pocket, is what gets returned back to you (either cash or credit). Had the cashier continued to process the refund, they would have gotten another screen to put the remainder on a cvs money card. However, there has been some recent register changes (which haven’t hit my stores yet), in that the refund comes back as an ECB instead. So I got $4.xx in cash and $12 on a money card.
I’d try to return it again. If you get the same response, ask the cashier to continue to see what the register prompts. If that doesn’t work, then try another store without your receipt. I don’t like the no receipt thing, b/c those are tracked and after so many, your card gets flagged and you have to deal with the 3rd party that authorizes refunds. But if you don’t do many returns, try it to see what happens. Sometimes the register will prompt the last sale price, but that might be better than $0.12. Good luck.

Thank you Mel. I appreciate the insight.

Umm. I’ve heard there is a major policy shift and was in fact told this by the store manager. I was told that there is no extrabucks or gift cards given if you return after you’ve used extrabucks. She said that is the company policy. The manager was making it a point to tell each guest this several weeks ago as we entered the store.

  3. Diana

I always get a money card if i return something. Just the other day i bought the body wash and my ecb’s didnt print- i was off by $0.20 so i just returned them. I used extra bucks- they just gave me the cash back.
Also—- i have been getting sooooo many wet n wild products for free!!!! There was a $2 off any wet n wild product in the valu pak coupons a couple weeks ago! So awesome!!!
I used them this week—- and keep rolling my extra bucks!

  4. Aly

I encountered the same scenarios as Kathy and JM. My local store won’t refund the extrabucks used on products if you’re trying to return it. They’ll just give you the cash paid. I end up losing the value for the CBs. CVS is changing their policies. My store won’t even override a coupon anymore if their system doesn’t take it even if the item purchased clearly matches the picture on the coupon.

  5. Isra

Right now I just purchased wet n wild cushion foundation, $8.99 on cvs.com, using the 30FREESHIP, it comes down to 6.29 and there is a $5 ecb wyb 1, only $1.29 shipped.

  6. Juanita

If you use extra bucks to pay and have to return item; you only get the cash you paid and no credit for the extra bucks——I told cashier they are going to lose customers with this policy!

  7. Valencia

P&G had reduced the limits again. Went from 4 to 2. Saw the new Tide Q’s in the November P&G and they are a limit of 1 now 🙁

  8. Dee Lewis

Hello everyone. I was at one of my favorite CVS stores a couple of hours ago and was advised by the supervisor whom I know very well that their policy is changing. I got a different receipt today that shows the amount I paid AFTER coupons. Now on the bottom of the receipt it says RETURNS WITH RECEIPT, SUBJECT TO CVS RETURN POLICY, THRU 12/26/2018. REFUND AMOUNT IS BASED ON PRICE AFTER ALL COUPONS AND DISCOUNTS. I inquired and was told that you only get what you paid back and not any of the extra buck or coupon value back. TRIPLE BUMMER!!! Early this morning I went by another one of my favorite CVS stores, and the receipt was like the old receipts without the new wording. It’s getting harder to happily shop at CVS. Pretty soon, I’ll stop altogether. It’s not worth the headache, especially when you lose your extra bucks on a return. I have issued quite often anyway with the coupons on my card on the app never working. Have a good day!

  9. Dee Lewis

Correction to my post: I have issues quite often

  10. AP

That is absolutely correct. I purchased milani and rimmel three weeks ago, paid $15 in ECBs and was supposed to get $10 back but my ECBs didn’t print. The store manager checked the sale tags that clearly said spend 10 on milani, get 7 and spend 8 on rimmel and get 3. The manager did not issue my Extrabucks which was ADVERTISED. When I told him to just take it back, he said I would only get 2.xx back because that’s what I paid out of pocket. He said call the cvs customer service and the lady kept saying “I apologise but the product was probably not on sale which is why they didn’t print” and just wouldn’t understand. Thats wrong, CVS.

  11. Tina9222

    Yup!!!
Registers are now different cannot overide receipts are different as well, last week I ordered L’Oréal online$32,didn’t get extra bucks so I returned it, they argued for the used EB I didn’t give up,calling six times! Some people want to help others won’t,one time 50 minutes one other 1 hour 40 minutes I was so adamant and they told me I wouldn’t get them back, at the end of this horrible ordeal I won out!!! Got them in one big EB but got one month to use. Yeay me! I told them they will lose all the couponers .

  12. Lesa

They are doing this because so many people buy things that give large ECB amounts and then return the product and keep the ECB. The scammers and thieves have ruined it for everyone. The manager at my store told me this. The guy in front of me did a transaction with high value coupons and wouldn’t use his CVS card. She stated he is a regular who buys things with high value coupons who then goes to various stores to return the item, getting full value back. Frustrating for sure.

I’m trying to print the summer’s eve $1.50/2 coupons. I haven’t printed it yet but it says (Sorry, this coupon has already been printed the number of times allowed or this coupon link is no longer valid). Is there another way to print this?
