Curious about what Hulu Original TV shows are worth watching?

Hulu allows you to stream thousands of shows and movies including Hulu Originals, hit movies, kids shows and more! Our Team recommends The Handmaid’s Tale, 11.22.63, Castle Rock and The Good Place!

“So I secretly enjoy watching the The Handmaid’s Tale when my kiddos are in bed – sound asleep. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT watch this show with kids around. It’s creepy, disturbing, hair-raising, unpleasant, and did I mention creepy? It’s often hard to watch, but then at the same time – hard to not watch. The main character, Elisabeth Moss, is an incredible actress who shows such raw emotion and makes the show binge-worthy. There’s something to be said about a show that you talk about long after the show is over.” – Collin

Think I can sign up with a different email address and cancel my current one?

    • Lindsay

      Wondering the same

    • Alllison

I did. But i used my husbands name and his credit card. I think all of the info would have to be different.

    • Cami

Just tried that but they didn’t allow it, I’m assuming because I used the same credit card

    • Christina Patton

      That’s what i just did!

    • Kacie

      I did!

    • Ashley

I cancelled my husband’s and came back again under mine just fine.

    • Jessica

Yes, it definitely works! Just use a different card.

    • Lilianna

I did. Used same name and payment (PayPal). Worked just fine.

    • Les

      I did

    • Kathleen

I just cancelled my Hulu account & signed up again with a different email and credit card and got this deal to work.
      Thank you!

  2. Jen

Definitely trying it at this price! Another reason to look forward to maternity leave 😉

  3. Tammy Jo

Got it thanks !!! Now if I can remember in 12 months to cancel lol!

    • Bebe

Set a calendar reminder and you won’t have to.

      • Barbara

I just set my calendar because I know I will forget if I don’t.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yay! You’re welcome! Enjoy!

  4. Sara

Spring for the no commercials plan. It will save your sanity. Hulu has gone from 3 ads in a 22 minute show in Winter 2014 to 13 ads in that same 22 minute show in Spring 2018. I couldn’t take it anymore. I upgraded.

    • Rebecca

Same. No commercials or no Hulu for us lol.

    • lenin1991

It’s too bad they seem to be offering no discount on the no-commercials plan with this deal!

    • rcb37404

I really enjoy my HULU, but I have to have it with no commercials. Having cut the cord 8 yrs ago & just streaming, all the Hulu commercials drove me nuts! When I reSubbed a few months ago, they did give me a free 1 month trial & it applied to the commercial free. At $11.99 a month, it’s SO worth it!

    • Wren

Ugh, i was thinking about this… I did the basic for .99 a month and with $10 ebates it was $2 for the year. We’ve never tried Hulu. The no commercials would have been a lot more than that…! But now I’m wondering if I won’t be able to stand the commercials! 🙂

      • Kami Webb

I don’t know what everyone is saying about Hulu and all the commercials. We have the normal Hulu with commercials and they only play one commercial before and one after the show. So technically you only have to watch one short 15 to 20 second commercial before the show you are trying to watch. You dont have to watch the one after. They have never shown a commercial during the show. We love Hulu, we have Hulu and Netflix instead of cable.

        • Sara

The number of ads varies depending on the show.

I don’t watch original content on any service. I refuse to watch original content because Hulu, Netfix, and Amazon are replacing licensed content with their own shows. Original content is cheaper than licensed content. Original content is a cost-cutting measure.

          I watch two
to three anime shows regularly on Hulu. The first is Snow White with the Red Hair, the second is Ouran High School Host Club, and the third is The Devil is a Part-Timer. I first started watching Ouran in December 2014. It had an ad spot at the beginning, in the middle, and near the end. It was the same short ad in each spot. In March 2018, that same show had at least 3 ad spots each with three to four ads.
Sometimes there would be a fourth ad spot with one ad in it. The ads were longer than in 2014. The total commercial time added at least 6 minutes to each 22-24 minute episode.

      • Danielle Kelly

I can’t figure out how to combine this with ebates. As soon as I go through ebates the .99 offer is gone. Any tips?

        • judy

I used it with (mrrebates.com) 8.00 rebate today

  5. Kristy

Is this similar to Netflix? I can just watch on my iPad?

    • rcb37404

Yes Kristy, you can watch it on anything with an internet connection. HTH.☺

  6. Amy

I am not a current member, but it says I am not eligible for the promo. 😢

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm, how odd. Maybe try again in a different browser. Hoping that might help!

    • Heather

My says the same even with a new email account and different credit card 🙁

    • Jamie

      Call them.

  7. Tracy

Im trying to get it. Might use my husband’s email

  8. Alysha

Wow! I think at this price I’ll definitely try it out. Thank you!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hope you love it! You’re welcome, Alysha!

  9. Madonna

Can you give as a gift subscription

  10. Mal

Is this for Hulu live or just Hulu?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

This offer is just for Hulu.

  11. Amy

In the past reviews here have said it’s not worth it because there end up being so many commercials. I have had a free trial with no commercials but no experience with the limited commercial plan. Anyone have opinions?

    • Elizabeth M.

Sara above says to spring for the upgrade to avoid 13 ads in a 22 minute show.

      • Sara

I use Hulu to watch anime. Most “half hour” shows are actually 22 – 24 minutes long.

In Winter 2014 it was 3 ad spots with one ad each. It was usually the same ad each time. It was always for another Hulu show.

In Spring 2018 it was usually 3 ad spots with 3 – 4 ads each.
Occasionally there would be a fourth ad spot with 1 ad in it. It would cycle through ads from 4 or 5 companies. Hulu was always one of them. The other companies changed at most once per month.

    • Rebecca

Yes I’d for sure rather pay the regular price for no commercials ($12-13 I think) than $1 for “limited” commercials. We did the limited commercials for a trial and it was horrible, drove us nuts. We would have cancelled after the trial if we couldn’t switch.

      • Amy

Thank you Rebecca! The “drove us nuts” theme is what I remember from previous comments. Not worth it for me if that’s what others are saying!

      • Kip

Agree, I was thinking of reactivating husbands to get the price but the ads killed me and that was before there were 13 of them. If you watch Hulu a lot, no commercials saves a lot of time. 8-10 min per 30 min episode of commercials adds up. My sanity and time is worth $10 a month. (I watch a ridiculous amount of Hulu while cleaning on my echo show.

  12. Kristin

This is coming up 5.99 a month for me? Any idea why?

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm, are you a current member? This offer is for new or returning members. If not, maybe try again in a different browser. Hoping that helps!

      • Jessica

The fine print says that if you had an active subscription or used a free trial IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS, you are not eligible for the .99/mnth. However the price for those customers is $5.99/mnth (usually $7.99) for Limited commercials. Hope this helps!

    • Ashley

No idea why but I’m having the same issue! I was a customer in the past but am not currently and as soon as it prompted me to log in the price changed from 99 cents a month to $5.99! 🙁

    • Sarah

It’s odd, sometimes when I opened the page it didn’t offer, so I would close everything out and then it came up. Keep trying, I hope you get it!

    • mo

      same here..???

  13. Charly

    $10 back through Ebates!!

    • Tabitha

      Thanks, Charly!!

    • Laura

I don’t think this offer is compatible with the $10 off, it’s not working for me. Going through Ebates it only offers me the $5.99/mo plan.

      • Ashley

        Ahhhhh…maybe *that’s* the problem…

      • Tabitha

It is, Lara. I had to play around with it before the 99cent banner appeared.

        • Ashley

So how were you able to use ebates AND get the 99 cent promo?

        • Laura

Yes, can you please tell us how you got it to work? I’m still not able to get the .99 deal while in Ebates.

          • Laura

Never mind- I actually did get it to work (I think. It’s still spinning on my PayPal checkout)! I was through Ebates, then clocked on the tab where it said ‘2 deals’ at the bottom. I clicked on one, then backed out of it again without signing up. Then all of a sudden the $.99 deal popped up 😀

          • Morgan

Click on the other devices link on the bottom left. Pulled it right up for me.

  14. Mamasweetpea

Is Hulu worth it if one already has amazon prime?

    • Laura

I have Netflix, Hulu and Prime. I use them for all different things. Hulu shows my TV shows that I didn’t get to watch the night before the next day, whereas Prime doesn’t.

    • Elizabeth.M

I too have Netflix, Hulu and Prime. i , love all 3!

    • Kip

If one likes to watch new releases and shows the day after they Coe out then one needs Hulu. 😉 I love it and I hardly can find anything to watch on prime.

  15. Misty

I was able to make an account for the hubby and cancel mine, but I had to use a different card payment. When I tried to use the same card payment it would not let me.

  16. Micah

That’s what I just did. I just used a different email account.

  17. Virginia

Mine wouldn’t let me get the deal either, and I am not a current member. Only $5.99 for me.. ugh….

  18. Kari

Is this just for one screen or can you upgrade to more?

  19. Sarah

We have an antenna for local channels and only do Amazon Prime, Netflix and Hulu. My husband and I use Hulu the most and the kids use Netflix. Hulu is great for us because of our schedules. We can watch shows we like together after they have aired live which is fine with us!

Side note: If you monitor what your family watches, just be mindful that any of the “original” series on all 3 platforms don’t follow the g/pg/pg-14/r rating systems. Anything goes it seems. We attempted to watch a number of original series and was shocked at the material just in the first several minutes. Just a warning to be mindful, especially with little ones around. The cooking shows aren’t bad;)

    • Sarah

      *pg-13

    • Victoria

Thanks for the heads up Sarah! I didn’t realize this about the original series. We monitor what we watch too and I am taking advantage of this deal today (Thanks Hip2Save!) I appreciate the heads up!

  20. AT

Check your AMEX offers before purchasing! 🙂
I have one for Hulu: Spend $5 or more, get $5 back. Up to 4x. (Get a $5 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to make a single purchase of $5 or more online at Hulu.com by 3/28/2019.)

    • Kelly

Thanks! I wouldn’t have thought to check this.

  21. hip2trade

Can you use a Hulu gift card on this?

  22. hip2trade

Can you use a Hulu gift card with this?

  23. Frank

Not for live. Just the basic with commercials. I went thru Ebates – ? $10 back maybe.

    • Wren

      Yes I’m seeing ‘limited commercials’.

    • TERITA

      I don’t see the .99 option on ebates. Just $5.99 and $11.99.

  24. Ashley

I’m wondering if the promo has expired…it seems that several of us are having that same issue and I’m even using different browsers! 🙁

  25. Debby

Oh my gosh! This is so fantastic, thank you.

  26. Susie

THANKS, daughters home for holiday so she will enjoy it.

  27. Cathy Bowman

Keeps telling me I’m ineligible for the discount, even creating a new account and trying to renew my old one.🤷‍♀️

  28. Erica1

Got mine. Thanks! I had to use a different cc because it didn’t give me the special.

  29. kjtanner

Thanks for this deal. My son has been wanting Hulu for some time.

  30. budbeerlady

Thanks! Dh and I were tossing around trying Hulu last night but for this price we will give it a shot.

  31. Wendy

I just cancelled my act and opened one in my husbands name and it worked. Thanks!

    • Cassie

      I did the same thing

  32. Jc

Any idea why when I click the $.99 it then takes me to a screen telling me I owe $5.99?

  33. Wren

I *think* it all worked for me using my phone. Did ebates app for the $10 back, then just saw the $5.99 option. Then I went ahead and made a Hulu account and the 99¢ popped up and it processed with the ebates “$10 back” at the top. Fingers crossed 🙂

  34. Frank

Ebates sent me a message that I earned $10 for Hulu. Whoop whoop

    • Michelle

Worked for me through ebates too! Spend 99 cents a month and get $10 back, total score! If anyone needs to signup go here: ebates.com/r/MTHORN89

  35. DJ

Is this for the Hulu limited commercial?

  36. Amy

Any deals like this for Netflix?

  37. sarah

if you use swagbucks you can get 25$/2500 swagbucks.

  38. Loretta

Mine says I’m a returning customer and I can do the one week free trial and after that it is $5.99.

  39. Sarah

Not seeing 99 cent option? 🤷

  40. A.Marie

OH man….I can’t believe I finally got it to work!! I seriously had to log into another browser (I used Microsoft Edge) and signed up using an email address that I rarely use. Thanks, Hip2Save!!

  41. Emily

Also wondering if you can use a gift card to pay for the .99/month subscription?

  42. Nancy

Yay! Just got it! Thanks. Looking forward to watching some shows!

  43. Kylee

I did a live chat .. I was 9 days into a free trial. I was told you cannot be a current customer within past 12 months or have used a free trial in past 12 months. He suggested signing back up under a different email AND payment method…….it worked just fine.

  44. Cleob

I went through Ebates for the Hulu $10 cashback, set up the Hulu account, but shows only the $5.99 option. I clicked backed to the Hulu home page and clicked the compatible devices tab at bottom left of page and it brought the $.99 option, and then set up account again and completed with $.99 payment option. The $.99 option does work through Ebates. Hopefully, I will earn the $10 Ebates cashback.

    • Cleob

No email from Ebates yet, but I just checked my Ebates account and $10 now in my account. Yay!!

    • Michelle

Worked perfectly for me and have a $10 credit! 🙂

    • T

Thanks for the help. I clicked on the compatible devices like you said and it worked like a charm.👍

    • Ryan

This worked perfect and I got the $10 from ebates! Thanks for the tip on the compatible devices!

  45. riss

So is this promo only for hulu with ads? No discount for the ad-free?

  46. Jessica

We were under a free trial on my husband’s email address, so we canceled and I signed up for this on my email. Thanks!

  47. Jerelyn M LeMay

Telling me “page not found”. UGH!

  48. Michael

My AMEX has “Spend $5 or more, get $5 back. Up to 4x” for HULU. I’m assuming YMMV, but you may wanna check your AMEX rewards section online. This would make the $11.99 no-commercial plan $6.99 for up to 4 months depending on the expiration date of the deal for you.

  49. Mizz Mo

There are only two shows – Handmaid’s Tale and Castle Rock – that I cannot see anywhere else. So, for me, .99¢ per month is a great deal. Most of the other shows offered I can record OTA with my Tivo (then hit the forward or skip button for commercials) or steam for free through other apps on the Roku.

Time to roll your eyes here – but I have learned to use commercial breaks when streaming shows (FX, HGTV or NBC apps) as a time to do a few laps around the living room so my butt doesn’t take root to the couch 😜

  50. Regina

I tried but it should I would be charged $5.99 a month…it has been abt 6 months since I was signed up.
