If I use a gift card and my target red card in the store, I don’t save 5% on the part that was paid for with the gift card correct? I’m assuming it takes the gift card off first then applies the 5% discount for the Red Card on the remainder?
You are correct, it only takes the 5% off the part of the purchase that goes on the Red card.
Can you use current $5.00 gift cards to pay for Target gift cards? I know in the past you could.

How did you get that to work? It’s not working for me, no gift card option to pay.
Just a heads up for redcard holders, if you use a gift card on your order, you cannot apply your 5% discount. What I have learned to do is buy my gift cards in smaller increments. Then I can select how many I want to use and leave a small balance. For example, if my total is $32, I use $30 in gift cards and pay the balance with my red card and you still get the 5% on the whole order.
I add all to my red card account so I don’t have 1000 gift cards lying around. Then I just select the ones I want to use. It’s super easy, especially online 🙂
At least in the store, you only get 5% off the remaining balance. Check your receipt and do the math. I thought the same thing once and then I did the calculation.
I just tried adding a $10 gift card to my $100 order. The red card discount went down from $5 to $4.50. Maybe they do not apply red card discount on the gift card portion anymore.
I have also noticed the 5% discount change after applying a gift card so I don’t think they take it off the whole order anymore.
It’s only off the portion paid with the red card – but it’s worth splitting like Jackie said – I do the same thing so I’m ensured free shipping. Just be aware that orders not paid entirely by the red card only have the 90-day return policy. I missed returning a pool because I’d paid for part of it by gift card.
The 5% is taken off only the remaining amount that goes on the card. But it still allows for the free shipping which you wouldn’t get if you paid fully with gift card

I always thought you got 5% off the gift cards too with target red card but it’s not showing up for me this time, I know they don’t give you 5% off when you use the gift card at the store, so for my own personal use this is only like saving 5% off gift cards since I already save 5 percent when I’m there using my target card

For me this is better than a 5% savings. Now I can buy the $300 gift card on my rewards credit card and save the additional 5% through Target and get 2% cash back through my rewards CC.
Overall netting almost a 12% savings vs the standard 5% red-card savings.

I’ll pair my 20% off coupon and one of the gift cards for one transaction and the $20 off $100 coupon I got in the mail and another gift card for a 2nd transaction! Can’t wait to see what our savings are! 😊.
$20 off of $100 is 20%. Should be the same discount as your 20% off coupon- unless you go over $100 then it’s less. Not sure why your need to use both on two transactions?

Because you can’t use both coupons in one transaction so she’s splitting her orders to maximize her savings. That way she can use both coupons. Makes sense!

Sometimes I forget to take it off during showers but I do take the extra 2 minutes and blow it dry with a blow dryer set on low so maybe it will not turn as quickly. My necklace has my two granddaughters names who I cared for 3-4x a week in my home and we were very involved with their family. They recently moved away from our hometown so this “Mimi” is still having a VERY difficult time with it all but my necklace cheers me a little every day that I see it! I really love it.

Yes, I can confirm that you can buy a new gift card today with an existing Target gift card. I did that this morning in-store. I don’t know if it works online, but it has worked in-store for me for several years.
That’s terrific. The Targets near me updated their systems at the beginning of this year and we can no longer buy other Gcs with Target Gcs. I thought the same would be true for purchasing Target Gcs. I might have to go try during 1/2 time today thanks.

Yes. I tried this last night. The only bummer is it takes the 20% off after you use your $10 coupon.
FYI… I got two 20% coupons since I went to Target twice that day (one went to my wallet for in-store purchase only & one was a paper coupon that they gave me in the store for online or store purchase). I used both the $10 off & 20% coupons yesterday but you have to do in this order:
1. Scan your 20% coupon in your WALLET barcode, then…
2. Scan your CARTWHEEL barcode (if you have any Cartwheel items like I did), then…
3. Scan your $10 off coupon (total AFTER the 20% off & Cartwheel discounts still has to be $50 or more)
** WATCH THE REGISTER TOTALS AS THEY SCAN YOUR CODES & COUPONS because after they did steps 1 & 2 then scanned my $10 off coupon, my total actually INCREASED by $15.00!!! I was watching carefully so I caught it and they finally had to manually enter my $10 coupon to get it right. Evidently there’s a glitch in the system when using all 3 discounts because the customers checking out in front of & beside of me had the exact same problem.
Btw, the $10 off coupon we’re talking about was a mailer that Target sent out to certain RedCard holders for $10 off a $50 purchase.
Did anyone get a gift card activation receipt separate from a normal receipt at target?
I got some gift cards today morning and the young cashier said they do not give out activation receipts anymore. I don’t want to scratch the gift cards to find the balance as I want to give them for gifts, is there any other way to know whether the balance was loaded or not?

If you look at the very top of your receipt it should say if it was activated. It’s not separate anymore but it’s separated on the receipt at the top so you can cut it off if you want to send it with the gift card.
That is so odd. I got a regular receipt that showed each card and the balance I added to each.

Why can’t you buy them today?
No, you can’t use a bigger gift card to buy smaller amount gift cards (ie. use $50 gift card to buy 5 $10 gift cards). You can only combine gift cards (ie. use 2 $10 gift cards to get a $20 gift card).
I’ve used a bigger gift card to buy smaller cards. I’ve done this several times at Target.
I purchased 10 $10 gift cards for teachers, hard copy to be mailed… You can do the same for your 5.😉

I would so no, as that is how we used ours. Before discount& all my deals it was almost $750. Almost all was groceries for the next month& some items were just household. I only bought what I know we will need, or definitely use. We saved almost $250, so it really added up!
