I’ve been debating b/w the ipad 6th gen and ipad 4 mini…But isn’t the mini like nearly 4 years old now, a slower processor and being discontinued? That’s why I am leaning toward ipad for my kiddo, but unsure.

I got the posted deal during black friday to replace a broken ipad mini 4 for my son that we got in 2016. The damage was due to rough handling and not anything wrong with the ipad itself. I went with the mini again based on experience. We have both the larger full size ipads as well as 2 minis. Given the choice our kids have always leaned towards the minis. For us, the mini screen size is perfect for little hands and on the go. It is not as heavy or bulky as it’s larger sibling. The 128gb space is a whole lotta storage for all 3 kids to download apps and games and my oldest (6) to do pretend “youtube reviews” with her toys. It wasn’t even a question for us to go back to the tried and true mini. That said, I can see the appeal of newer tech. But for what it’s worth, my daughter’s original mini 1 was gifted to us in 2012 and it’s still going strong 6 years later and counting.

Just as an example, I have had my OG mini since 2012 and that thing is a tank. Never an issue and seriously never notice slowness. I got this one during black Friday for an upgrade so I can give the original to my daughter but apple made a mistake with these ones when they finally made something to last LOL!!!!

Go with an IPad! Don’t skimp on storage when it comes to kids, they fill it up pretty quick. I have the mini and it’s limited on storage.

My son wants a mini but it can’t be updated past a certain OS anymore and the new regular sized iPads are the same price, so I went with the regular sized one. I do wish they would update the small ones but this way it will last us longer and if he wants the Apple Pencil it will work with it too.

Even iPad mini 2 still supports the current iOS 12.

We have three IPads in the House. My husband and I share one and each of my kids have one. The one my hubby and I use is the original 1st generation and no longer can be updated. I was torn between getting a full size or a mini. This is 128GB but the iPad 6th generation I bought a few weeks ago is 32 GB. I bought this one too just in case. Can’t really decide which one I should keep. I got the IPad for a great price and only paid about $200. Any thoughts?!

What GB is the current iPad you use? Do you find that you have to delete apps or photos to download something new? I have an iPhone and iPad. My iPad is mostly used for reading, recipes, streaming a movie in another room while doing laundry etc so I don’t need a lot of space on it. My iPhone is used for taking videos and pictures and I am so glad I got the 128 GB iPhone 7.

Yes, I was also just planning on using the IPad or IPad mini for surfing the net, watching videos, recipes, etc. since I have the iPhone 8 Plus with 256GB, I really can use it for taking videos and utilizing my apps that way. 32GB is not much for the IPad but I shouldn’t needyoo much I guess. I’m just worried since the mini is or may no longer be updated but the IPad is the current version. That would be my main concern.

We love the size of the mini! Easy to travel with and screen size is big enough for everything else we do. The 128gb storage is essential in my opinion! My son currently has the IPad mini 2 with 16gb and it’s not enough storage. It still works great 3 years later, but the storage is terrible. I bought this on Black Friday for the same price and he’s getting it for Christmas. I have a mini 4 128 gb and it works great and updates well. It’s personal preference on the size but don’t pass this by just cause it’s not the latest and greatest, if your on the fence about that!

According to Apple when I asked, the iPad mini 4 should be supported for the next three years on the current iOS updates. My boys have an iPad mini 3 that can run on iOS 12 but only has 32 GB. The games they like need a lot of space plus when you add movies, music etc the 128 GB on the iPad mini 4 is worth it!

I went to my local Best Buy to buy one since it was sold out online and they had plenty in stock in all 3 colors…just in case anyone really wants this deal.
