Does anyone know how much this bottle is at Costco now?
I’m not sure about Costco but I was at sams club yesterday and it was just over $20. Since I’m at the higher percent for subscribe and save mine here is only $14.40 so I’m going for it!
That $20 price at Sam’s is for 8 ounces.
I was at Costco the other day and I think the same size of vanilla was around $28. This is a fantastic deal.
I used to buy the Costco brand (not sure of the size), but it was $35 in store yesterday.
Its over 30$ for a 16 oz bottle has gone up significantly over the last 3-4 years.
This month is has held firm at or $34. something. Two and a half years with vanilla areas destroyed and not back to snuff.
Or you can make your own – it’s easy and there are plenty of recipes out there, but essentially you just need small glass bottles (Amazon), food grade vanilla beans (Amazon) and the cheapest vodka your ABC store sells. Add vodka and 1-2 beans per bottle and let sit for 30+ days to make your own pure vanilla extract. Makes a great gift. 🙂

With the current price of vanilla beans, I think this deal might be cheaper. I’m planning on making my own next year, but I grabbed this to use in the meantime. And I’ve found vanilla bean prices seem to be better on Ebay versus Amazon.
Yes! I just tried making my own for the first time a couple of months ago. I used a vanilla bean from Winco bulk and cheap vodka. I used an instant pot recipe to speed up the infusion. Couldn’t be easier and I’m happy with the results!

Does anyone know why the price of vanilla skyrocketed? The last time I bought a bottle at Costco (a few years ago), it was $6.99! Now sells for $35 or more.
The vanilla bean crops burned in California or something like that so there was quite a shortage

Not in California…in Madagascar….that place has 80% of vanilla crop in the world.
There has been a huge shortage for several years now. The Madagascar crop has been super low. I used to buy a 20 oz bottle at Sam’s club for 15$ now the 8 oz is 20$. I am super nervous about buying anything from Amazon. Their fakes have been off the charts lately. I would rather spend a few extra bucks at Sam’s and know for certain what I was getting was legit.
I get the little bottles at the dollar store- and it works perfectly fine. There is no way that I could convince myself to pay this price for a bottle of vanilla extract. Pure or not our holiday baking has been great for many years …
If there is a Mexican grocery store in your area it is amazing how cheap you can buy vanilla extract there.
Yes! Definitely! My best friend goes to Mexico twice a month. We live in a border town. 20 miles from Mexico. And she brings me a 33.8 fluid ounce bottle for $5. And in bother dark and white vanilla. Merry Christmas Y’all from deep South Texas!!
Great idea! My grandma lives in Arizona part time and brings us vanilla from Mexico because it is so much cheaper. Never thought to look at the little local store!
There are lots of deals to be found there. There is one close to us with a butcher and the prices on meat are very reasonable.

Watkins 11 oz is on sale for about $1 per ounce also – you have to buy 2, and you can do subscribe and save. I ordered two of those instead, and they will arrive by Dec. 24. I paid $21.53 for 22 ounces. I think Watkins has a stronger vanilla flavor than McCormick.
I went to order some but unfortunately it’s not pure vanilla extract & the reviews weren’t good at all, so I skipped this one.
