Is this easy to use? This will be the first time I have to do my own taxes. I am not sure if I should try it this way or go to a CPA. Working, now single mom; Own home. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    • Umaima

Very easy to use and much cheaper than a CPA doing your taxes.

    • Ns55

I hate math and have done my own taxes with turbo taxe for roughly 10 years now. It’s super easy and asks all the questions you will need to file correctly. As you answer it’ll take you to the next suggested question based on your previous answer. It won’t let you down. Skip the cpa and the hefty fees and try yourself.

    • JMS

It’s easy. Just try to have everything together (receipts etc) and allow yourself plenty of time for the walk-through so you don’t miss anything. Then just go through and answer all the questions. We share the premiere version (split cost, up to 5 uses) with other people bc one has rental property & my now husband has side business. If you are not sure or forgot a receipt you can save what you’ve done so far, get your answer or receipt and then finish. Then you can decide for yourself if it’s something you will do for yourself or pay someone to do in the future.

Agree with what other Hipsters said, S. The key is once you get your pertinent information in the first time, it all carries over the following year (provided you again use TurboTax), so don’t let your first year be your judge of how monotonous it will be every year. Also, depending on your circumstances, ensure you get the correct version for you (i.e., Deluxe, Premier). Reason being, if you don’t look at the particulars of each, when you are in the midst of your taxes, you’ll have to pay for the upgrade to get the appropriate materials for you (hope that makes sense). We have used TurboTax, gosh, it seems like forever. This is the best price I’ve seen. Good luck. Also, too since you are a single mom, look at finding the free versions online (income dependent). My sons both get TurboTax for free (one just finished college the other worked half a year and college the other half) and the both got it free.

I have used Credit Karma for the past few years. Our taxes are not too complicated and it walks you through everything. Best part is, it’s free. You still have to pay to file your State return, however most states have an option to file it for free through the Treasury; local taxes as well.

    • S

Thank you all for your help!! Makes me feel much better.

Great deal! I bought this yesterday from Amazon, and it already shipped. Does anyone know if I call, would they send me a gift card?

    • Alison

The post says the gift card is mailed to you and you download the software. So your shipment should be the gift card, no need to call.

    • KRISTINA

I bought yesterday as well. I am shipping the other one back and ordered this one instead. This is the downloadable version and the deal yesterday was the CD rom I think. Thank goodness for free amazon returns!

  3. Deb

Thanks, Collin and Crew! We were able to grab the Home + Business + State for about $40 less than Intuit wanted on their website AND get the $10 Amazon gift card. Score!!!!!!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yay! SO great to hear that, Deb! You’re welcome!

  4. Jan

Can you use the TurboTax software download 5 times or only the cd?

    • KRISTINA

You can use the cd 5 times! What?! Does that mean you can share with family and friends. How did I not know about this?!

      • Lisa

Kristina, I believe, Jan was asking if one CD could be used for 5 different people. I am pretty sure it’s a no.

        • lenin1991

Yes, the CD can be used by up to 5 people.

      • Glenda

Yes if you buy the CD version you can use it for 5 people, we have done it for years! I don’t know about the download -??

        • Lisa

Thanks, Glenda. Did not know that. That will be good info for when my sons start to make the big bucks and aren’t eligible for the free version.

  5. kaylan

Thanks so much! I had a $20 promotional credit, so I only paid $20 for the deluxe combo and earned $10 gift card!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

SWEET! Such a great score, Kaylan! You’re most welcome!

  6. FtWayneCardsFan

Does anyone know if this includes the filing for federal and state or is that a separate cost?

    • Heather

It includes the federal filing. It also includes the forms to complete one state – but you have to pay to file the state online. I always print and mail it to save money – but it takes longer to get your refund.

  7. Stephanie

Thank you! This is a better deal than Sam’s Club.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re so welcome, Stephanie!

  8. Raquel

    Thank you!!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      You’re welcome, Raquel!

  9. vee

Is turbo tax better to use than h&r block ?

    • Lisa

Vee, we have not used H&R Block. Have been with TurboTax and love it — I mean, when you really have to do your taxes… that’s a total bore!

  10. Julia

you can file free with turbotax online if you have any of this situations

    W-2 income
Limited interest and dividend income reported on a 1099-INT or 1099-DIV
    Claim the standard deduction
    Earned Income Tax Credit (EIC)
    Child tax credits

  11. Kylie

Has anyone tried to use no rush digital reward credits to purchase this?

    • Colleen

I have some on my account but it didn’t give me the option to redeem them when purchasing.

  12. Kit

Please do not forget to check united way’s myfreetaxes . com partnered with H&R Block for low income families (not sure how low). I know there are situations that probably would not be covered but my husband works for amazon flex (same form as uber and favor etc.) and is medically retired and I work and even with all the different forms we have never had to pay anything. We used to use turbo tax but it stopped being free due to his side hustle. Easy to use and free, got the same amount on the returns, so no questions were missed, got my refund just as quickly as always.

    • Jennifer (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thank you for telling us, Kit! We are so glad you shared!

  13. DENNIS

I bought this today from Ebay. Already downloaded it and started a return. Home & Business for $20. Can’t beat that price.

  14. Sangy

Last year I did tax filing through Credit Karma Tax (both federal and state) for free.
Our’s is usually an uncomplicated tax return (meaning just fill from W2 and no extra’s).
So I could do it by myself online (self taught). Just FYI…

  15. Kim B

Thanks for the post.. I had it in my cart from the other day’s deal.. I usually buy a used/new one off of ebay in late March when prices drop.. I’m such a procrastinator when it comes to taxes. this is a great price!!

  16. Laura Rikli

I bought this back when the post was made, but Amazon charged me $10 on my credit card, while also mailing the gift card. Do you know why they charged me $10? My brother said the same thing happened to him, so it was like we didn’t get the gift card at all since they charged us.
