   I went to Home Depot today and bought a Christmas tree. The box was pretty busted up but it was only 57 dollars for a 7.5 ft tree with 1000 lights prelit. Was that a good idea? It was probably one of the display ones that they re packaged up since the box looked retaped up. Has anyone bought the display one? It was originally 229 and has almost 5 stars review online. I am going to test the tree later.

  I decided to pass on one of the display trees at my local Wal-Mart. Only because I think they leave them on 24/7 for something like 2 months, which I imagine drains the life of the lights quite a bit. But I’m no expert and it probably depends on how long you want the tree to last. Our old prelit tree lasted 9 years! So it could be a good deal.

  I bought a pre-lit display tree from target several years ago and it lasted around 10 years before we started having issues with lights
