Hi Alicia. Yes, you can pay for the item with a different Register Reward to achieve a new Register Reward. The key is that it is a different brand Register Reward (Example: you can use a $1.50 Trolli Register Reward to pay for Tide laundry detergent). Also, if you pay with points, you do get a Register Reward.

Points will not be earned in a transaction where a store credit is used.
