I am an adult female weighing 135lb. Is a 15lb blanket for me? Thanks in advance!

    • Julia

I think this may be more of a child sized blanket.

    • Janet

I think it would work for you. I read the recommendations and it says they recommend 10% of your body weight.

    • Elle

Yes, that is the weight that you should get.

    • Gisette

We bought one for our daughter who is in college and weighs 128. I got the 12lb and it’s perfect. IMO 15lbs May be too much weight for you.

      • Alli

        I’m 145 lbs and I liked the 20 lb best. 15 wasn’t enough….so I think it depends on preference.

    • Stacey

I found a reduced price on Walmart brand Gymax that has several weights and sizes. I ended up getting a 12 lb one for $59. Maybe this will help.

    • shop4mybabies

you generally want to go with 10% of your bodyweight…depending on your preference an extra 2 pounds may not be too much, but if they are too heavy you will be uncomfortable as well as overheat.

  2. Amelia

Yes, my son is 12yrs 5’4 and weighs 128lbs. We bought him this exact blanket last time it was on sale and we received yesterday. Last night was the first night sleep with it and he said it was amazing. It helped him fall right to sleep.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Aww, SO glad to hear it helped him fall asleep! Thanks for sharing, Amelia!

  3. Jackie

I would get it but I’m passsing due to the fact that it’s dry clean only ☹️

    • Lynn

Jackie, don’t be discouraged…These weighted blankets are not generally meant to be cleaned so a cover is encouraged. Amazon has a ton of these blanket covers that are used to keep the blanket clean and wash the cover only. Just check the size that you need for your blanket. I paid $29 for my Minky blanket cover. Love it!

      • Jackie

Lynn, I totally didn’t think of that😳! Yes I can get a duvet cover 😊. I can actually get a cheap one from target and I could adjust it if it doesn’t fit. Thanks!

        • Lynn

Being a “seamstress’s daughter” I love that you can get a cheap one and adjust it! We love our weighted blanket! 🙂

    • rebecca

even if you found one that said you could wash it at home, it’s not likely a great idea to have all those tiny millions of weighty beads getting tossed around in your washer and dryer, anyway, i’m thinking.
a cover is the way to go so you don’t have to feel bad if someone spills on it.

      • Erin

You don’t wash the entire blanket. Some come with removable covers that you launder, not the whole blanket.

  4. Jen

I weigh 130 and used this blanket last night for the first time. Loved it. Just a sheet and this blanket kept me warm (but not hot) all night. I’m planning to buy a flat sheet to sew into a removable cover since it can’t be washed.

    • Lynn

Love that you will be “making your own cover” for your weighted blanket. Great blanket, you will enjoy!

  5. patricia

I ordered mine from a lady who had commented on one of hip2save’s facebook post and it is on its way,and it is washable and I chose the fabric myself 🙂

  6. Amanda

I pre-ordered this blanket in December at the $69.99 price. Today I called Walmart customer service and they price adjusted it for me! Thanks again H2S!

  7. Mary

Our daughter is 209 lbs and 5’4” – will this be big enough, heavy enough for her?

    • shop4mybabies

I use one that is less than my recommended weight, but typically she would want a 20 pound blanket for 10% of her body weight

    • Jenny

I’m 220 and have a 12 pound. I find it very comforting and fall asleep much faster. Sometimes I feel like it might be nicer if it was heavier.

  8. HL

Mary- my husband is over 200 lbs, I ordered the 20 lb last month and the 15 lb, he didn’t like the 20 lb at all- said it was too heavy for him. Verdict is still out on the 15 lb for him. I tried the 20 lb- it was a bit much. I’m sure everyone has different experiences.

  9. Judy Trac

How does the weight help with adhd, anxiety, etc

  10. Denise

I would feel so claustrophobic with one of these! Lol

    • Lynn

I do feel like you need to try different weights if you don’t want the claustrophobic feeling…I tried my hubby’s 20 lb blanket and it was wayyyy to heavy for me ( I am in the 150’s). He loves it; I feel like a 15 lb or even 12 lb blanket would be good for me. It is like a hug and very cozy according to him but I just gotta try the lighter weights so I don’t feel claustrophobic!

  11. CW

I recently got the 12 lb and I’m 175 lbs. too heavy for me. 4th night in a row I’ve fully kicked it off in my sleep. Also I have fibromyalgia so the 12 lb was not physically comfortable.

  12. Julia

I think it’s gross that it can’t be washed. I would probably throw it away after a year due to the fact that it can’t be washed. Makes me a little itchy just thinking about it…

    • Lynn

A weighted blanket duvet would help solve this problem so that it can stay clean and the cover is what is washed.

  13. Jillian Hines

    Sold out:(

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

DARN! Thanks for the heads up!

  14. Tbell

Wash by hand, hang dry… easy peasy!!:) loooove mine!! Made my own first one to try with the plastic pellets… sooo much work, cost about 30 bucks because I used cotton king sheet I had! Splurged on a glass beaded one and so 100% worth it… quieter and feels luxurious.. gets better with time!

  15. Betty

Contacted Walmart on 1/15 for the price difference and even though I bought another blanket at the lower price, I still have not been able to get the difference refunded for the blanket first purchased in December. Better to only contact them by phone, not email.

  16. sravya

Working with the Ink for All application and using a standing desk are making the biggest difference for me
