Just FYI, we were told by our hvac guys to NOT opt for filters with high MPR values. They restrict air flow AND get clogged faster thus making the furnace work harder – causing $$$ problems. If you do use them, you should change them every 4-6 weeks. Hvac guys say go cheap! I use air purifiers in bedrooms as needed.
We were also told to buy thinner filters and change them more often. I avoid the “allergen” filters now.
These are MERV 8 on a scale of 16 so they are middle of the row. The higher ratings are for hospitals to reduce bacteria and virus spread. You shouldn’t use higher than a MERV 11 in residential areas from my understanding. They aren’t cheap but they shouldn’t cause an issue with clogging either.
These aren’t too strong of filters. They are good for odor control especially with pets. I bought them last time when they were on sale and would recommend them. I used to use cheap ones that I changed monthly but these significantly reduced the pet odor in my house!
