I’m sorry but this movie was extremely disappointing. They spoke in a made up language the entire movie with no subtitles to go with their made up words. We had to sit and figure out what was going on. At one point in this movie father and son are sitting at the edge having a true heart to heart talk, but we couldnt understand what was being said. A full fledged conversation in a made up language. It made parts of the movie boring and slow. I bought this movie and had I known I would not have wasted my money to even rent it. I think this movie would have been excellent if we could understand what was being said.
My 7yo son and I went to see it in the theater and we both loved it! It was a diff language but you get the gist of what was being said thru body language, facial expressions and just paying attention to the movie. Don’t let that stop you from seeing this movie. It teaches a lot and is very enjoyable.
I got the gist of what was happening and so did my husband and 4 kids, but we all thought it a huge bore because of all the Intimate conversations that you couldn’t understand. I didn’t understand why they would have a heart to heart conversation that took 5 minutes of the movie, but it was all in a made up language. Why focus on the moment and that conversation when you couldnt understand the language?
My family has watched this movie twice through Vudu and Redbox( and loved it—-teenage boys) and both times there were subtitles so you could easily read along what they were saying in their native language. I did not find it difficult to keep up with—-my 86 yr. old father-in-law was able to follow it just fine.
My son and I loved it too. Very touching. I thought it was very well done.
I speak a fair amount of Norwegian so i understood many of the words used in the film. I think the language is comprised of a few different Scandinavian languages. It’s not completely made up. I do think they should have a subtitle option in the rental version for those who would like it though. Was still a good movie even if it was a silent film. Very dramatic, well acted and directed imo.
The Meg is also 99 cents on Vudu.
Thanks for sharing, Kay! I’m not finding that one listed for that low now as I search through. Darn!
Purchased mine right away and it worked.
Is there a section for all sale items on vudu or do you hv to click thru each one to see price?
Hi Denise! When I head to their homepage, I find a FREE section to browse through. They also have a “Valentine’s sale” listed if you scroll down a bit. There are more sales and “reduced price” listings available on that main page. Hoping that helps!
Thank you Amber
You’re welcome!
I rented this from Redbox not that long ago…kinda a yawner, but I love movies with dogs so I watched it all. It’s a sweet story, but I wasn’t overly interested in it. I could follow along with the “language” issue, but like I said, was a good story overall. I’d watch it for $.99!
My husband and I just watched this movie and we both loved it. Thank you
