Hip2Save Readers LOVE Working for VIPKID

“Working with VIPKID has been amazing. I love that I can teach early in the morning before my kids go to school. I have met so many wonderful families in China and have a fully booked schedule of regular students. These families take learning English seriously. They want teachers with a North American accent, so they can sound like a native English speaker. If you are not a morning person, don’t worry! You can teach evenings/ nights on the weekends, summers, and Chinese holidays!”

“I am also a teacher and have been with VIPKID for over 2 years and have taught about 2,000 classes. I absolutely love this job, and hope to continue working there for a long time!”

“I absolutely LOVE my job as a VIPKID teacher! I’ve been a teacher now for over 6 months, and I recommend this company to anyone who wants a flexible and fun work from home position.”

“Best part-time job out there! I teach every morning while my kids are sleeping. It is an amazing way to make extra money from home. I sub during the school day and love this morning job. Highly recommend it.”

“I too am going to jump on the bandwagon and say that I LOVE teaching with VIPKID! The children are precious, and it’s so exciting to see them learn and grow! I have formed a special bond with my regular students and even some of their parents! (Some of my regular students and I write letters, send packages, and keep each other updated on our lives! It’s so fun!). I never expected that from this job! The pay is great and I love the flexibility.”

VIPKID is the best job I’ve ever had! I just signed my second contract! The kids are an absolute joy to teach, and I love that I can set my own hours and go to “work” in my yoga pants.”

I have worked with VipKid for over 1 year and absolutely love it! I have helped 5 people become VIPKid teachers, too! I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom and I finally have found a job I can do that doesn’t take me away from my family!! I work early in the morning while my kids are asleep and some Fri/Sat evenings. It is so fun and little to no stress. I’m telling you ladies (and guys who do VERY well at this position) I made $1k in my first month and doubled that amount almost every month after. I am elated because every day I think about how I can’t wait to work!

Please use my referral, as that is an incentive that the company provides for us, too! There are so many incentives! I would LOVE to help you through the hiring process. I’ll email you once you sign up!

My husband works for VIPKID and loves it! His scheduled is booked! If anyone would like help or tips with getting started, I know he’d be happy to help!

    • Myra

Hey! Could you email me at zoe _ delgado @ Icloud. com

      • Bridgette

Hi Myra! I’m happy to have him email you!

    • alice bolton

I am interested in getting information on how to get started working for VIPKID.

  3. Lauren Mobley

Another current VIPKID teacher here! I also serve as a coach and mentor within the company. I absolutely LOVE the flexibility this wonderful job gives me and my family. I am able to continue staying home with my two young kiddos while still contributing to our family’s finances. I actually make as much now as I did as a classroom teacher here in North Carolina! I would love to chat with anyone who may be interested in also pursuing this amazing opportunity! My email address is laurenmac10@gmail.com or find more information here https://t.vipkid.com.cn/activity/popup?refereeId=6783306&refersourceid=a01. Potential applicants who follow the process with a current teacher are more likely to be hired and I would love to help you through the process!

What degree or experience is required? I have a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and have Quality control experience in manufacturing. I always dreamed of becoming a teacher.

    • Jill

A Bachelor’s degree in any field is required and any amount of teaching experience is acceptable.

    • Bethany Wallace

Just a bachelor’s degree is required. Nothing else! I’d love to tell you more…find my contact on http://www.vipkidstars.com.

    • Breanne

They will not take you if you do not have classroom teaching experience. I’m halfway through my masters in school counseling and they said that was not good enough. 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ And yes, we have taken a class on classroom management, lesson plans, teaching methods, etc. This would have been perfect, especially since I’ll be doing internships in less than a year and will have to give up by day job at that point. Was bummed they wouldn’t consider that.

      • Bonnie Stone

Do you have any experience working with kids? Coaching, tutoring, leading a sunday school class, etc all count.

  5. Bethany Wallace

I have enjoyed being a teacher for VIPKid so much that I started a website to help people get hired. It’s flexible, fun, and pays well. I’m currently making $21 per hour. If you’d like to know more about VIPKid or need help with the interview process, check out my webpage at http://www.vipkidstars.com. In addition, I created a video to help people pass the initial “My Feelings” demo–check it out at: https://youtu.be/6QA5CtFFtzU

    • shoop

Thanks for the information. I look forward to hearing more about teaching from home!

  6. Paula

I’m a homeschooling mom and am very interested in this but only have an associate’s degree. For those of you working with VIPKID, do you think I could still apply? I’ve taught my own kids for the last 11 years! Thanks for your input!

    • Jill

Paula, I would never want to discourage you from this, so of course I would say to give it a try!! A bachelor’s is required, though.

    • Anne

Paula, honestly, if you don’t have a bachelors, you probably won’t make it past the initial application form. It’s automated and looks for the requirements that VIPKID has set forth. There are some other companies out there that don’t require a bachelors. If you do a little research online, you should be able to find one. Good luck!

EVERYONE TELLING YOU THIS IS GOOD is awesome, it’s working from them and that is fantastic, but I put a lot of money and time into to getting started. I don’t know why it’s posted on Hip2Save every few months but this company has a lot of teachers already, you have to really really want it and love the times in your time zone to do it, you have to sign up for the PEAK times. I flew through the hiring process, got hired at a higher than entry level rate….all to have no kids sign up for my classes. I had a lot of openings but none of them were in the peak hours. If you live on the West Coast and don’t want to wake up at 2 am it’s hard. Really look into it. The lady I signed up under, who had left a comment on this website never replied to my emails- but she got paid for me signing up. I’ve lived and taught English in China, this is a sweet gig…if it works for you (the real deal is way better tho). But be careful, it might not be as great as it is for other people… who want to make a sign up bonus.

    • Kate

The beginning process of getting students to sign up takes time. It’s just about being patient

    • Anne

The intent of the referral process is that you have someone to coach you through the hiring process. If the person whose link you used had done their job, you wouldn’t have had to spend much money at all. Sorry they left you hanging. I didn’t actually apply until I had a friend who had been teaching with VIPKID for several months. When I talk to people about it, I’m honest that bookings can take a long time to get. There’s no rhyme or reason as to why some teachers are fully booked from day one and others wait months. I’m coming up on my 3rd contract and my bookings are enough for what I want right now, but I just use this money as a way to make extra payments on student loans or help cover unexpected expenses. FYI, there are some other companies that have guaranteed bookings. I don’t work for them, but I know many VIPKID teachers work for other companies.

How do they verify your credentials?

    • Lauren Mobley

You submit either your diploma or a transcript 🙂

      • Janice

        Thank you!

  9. Stormy

Any central time zone teachers out there? What are the actual times you work? “Before my kids wake up”…is that 4am or 2am? Thanks for any responses.

    • Bonnie

Currently I am working 5-7 am because I’m a wimp. I really should start at 4 to round out my schedule more but I’m ok with it for now. DST will help!

      • Dawn

Same for me, Bonnie! I get up at 4am CST, my first class starts at 5am, then I am done at 7am because I have to make breakfast and get everyone up. I keep looking at those 4am and 430am slots and the late Fri/Sat night slots and cannot make myself do it. I , too, am a wimp!

So, Stormy, the peak hours right now are 5am-7am CST, and these always get booked for me. With DST, the peak hours change to 6am-8am since China doesn’t recognize DST.

    • Jill Legault

I’m in PST and work 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m which is 3:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.your time. 7:30 a.m. Central would be the last 30 min. class that you could offer because that is 9:30 p.m. in China. You can start early though! It just takes some adjusting but it is totally doable. I wake up at 1 a.m every day, work until 6 and go to bed anywhere from 6-8 at night. Most days I sneak in a 30 minute nap and I’m good! It’s kind of a strange thing, because I’m done working before the day even starts, so many days, I don’t even feel like I’ve worked. It’s awesome! Dream job.

    • Bethany

I live in central time zone and work from 6am-8am Mon-Sat, and 6:30-8:30pm on Saturday evenings. As soon as daylight savings hits, I’ll be working 7am-9am Monday – Saturdays (I love to sleep!). It works out as wonderfully as part-time income for me.

  10. Stormy Stanford

Thank you all for your help! We have a new puppy so I’m up at 4 am most days now….yawn….thank you for the comments!! I love helpful HIPSTERS!! Thanks.

  11. Angela Cravens

For those of you on the fence I recommend just going for it! You can go through the process with very little invested besides time. Yes it can take you awhile to get booked (it took me three months 🥺 and I signed up in January of last year) but if you go into it knowing this then bide your time and eventually you will get booked. Plus they are doing some amazing new promotions to help new teachers. I signed from a post just like this & it’s been the best thing! There are pros and cons….definitely do your research so you know what to expect….BUT if you are interested don’t sit on the fence for months like I did. Give it a try and I am positive you can find success! If you have questions or would like to use my referral link my email is Angie_robfri@hotmail.com & my referral link is https://t.vipkid.com.cn/?refereeId=11822912&partnerId=3724772. Happy teaching!!!

What do you teach? How do you get paid? And do you get taxes taken out of your checks? Or how does that work? Thank you!

    • Jill

We teach English to Chinese students from about 4 years old and up, depending upon what level you become certified for upon hire. We get paid once or twice a month, your choice, and the money is automatically deposited into your bank account. As an independent contractor, no taxes are taken out, so it’s up to you to take a certain percentage, depending upon what tax bracket you’re in and how many deductions you take, out of each paycheck and save it for tax time. Email me if you have any more questions!

I have also worked for vipkid for the last 2 1/2 years and have taught roughly 3000 classes. I live in Idaho and teach from 9-11pm and mornings from 6-7. Newer teachers have a harder time getting students to book them, but I am friends with some of my students parents on social media, and message them to try some of my referrals. If you have any questions at all, Please feel free to email. I can also help you with the express demo lesson and get you started teaching right away

    Melissamcampbell@gmail.com

Chinese new year just ended and they have a ton of students signing up and are looking for new teachers, so they gave current teachers and extra incentive to find referrals 😉

      Mel,
I live in Washington and since you are in my time zone, I would love to chat with you further! I have been thinking about trying this company for a while, but havent taken the “plunge” because I am not sure how it would work with 2 young kids (one at home with me all day.
I look forward to talking with you further!

I’m not a native English speaker but I got a degree from the university in United States. Can I apply for this job?

    • Jill

VIPKid is looking for teachers that have an American accent, so if you can pull off an American accent, then yes! There are many teachers that are from the south with a more southern accent and there are many bilingual Spanish/English with a slight accent. If the native Chinese speaker VIPKid employees that interview you, then you will do great!!

If you decide that you will apply please use my referral, as that is an incentive that the company provides for us, too! There are so many incentives! I would LOVE to help you through the hiring process. I’ll email you once you sign up!
