The Neato Botvac uses LaserSmart technology to scan and map your entire house, cleaning in straight lines instead of a random pattern. It lets the robot see in the dark and you can setup virtual No-Go Lines that tell your robot where not to go, so it avoids things like pet bowls and toys. I got this robotic vacuum thinking it would be an upgrade from my previous cheaper robotic vacuum I bought on Amazon. I was wrong. It is loud, slow, and doesn’t clean as well as I would like. It’s nice that it’s connected to my phone, but I am not impressed.

I have always used Neato brands for robo vacuums. I’ve had this model for about 2 years now. Absolutely love it! I had returned other brands because of the random patterns they do. Sometimes they’ll miss areas or be stuck in a corner doing the same area over and over. I love Neato brand because they do an around the room then back and forth pattern so it makes sure to get all areas. I haven’t found any other brand near this price range that does this. This model in particular also sends you a map to the app on your phone after each cleaning to show you the area cleaned.

So yeah, we got this exact robot at Christmas time. LOVE IT!!! I like the fact that is not random in its cleaning like iRobots and many other brands that just bounce around all willy nilly. It first outlines the area and then very deliberately fills in the area with a back and forth pattern, then move’s to the next section. Our lower level is about 1050 sq. ft and it does it on one charge. I really don’t think its that loud at all, especially compared to our shark push vacuum. Not to mention it does a way better job than I ever did, going under the couch, beds and around the chair legs under the dining room table. Great buy for sure.

I have the D5 and it cleans my hardwoods just fine and without scratching.
We own a D5. We have hardwood and a large carpet remnant in our main living area and it does a fabulous job of cleaning both. I love to tidy up and turn the vacuum on while I am out so I come home to a clean house. My favorite thing is it can clean the dust bunnies from underneath my bed. You can set it to clean on a schedule or just hit the start button when needed.
