This is the second price increase and I’ve had them less than a year. And when I compare the new options with what I have I have more channels for the same price. Anybody have any other options for live streaming tv?

    • Mzsarah

      We use YouTubetv

      • Joy

We just switched yesterday from direct tv to dish!
It’s going to save us 40/month for 2 years!
We will figure out next move in two years

        • Daniela

But you mean regular satellite. This post is for streaming services only, no commitment, no box in your home, which is always going to be cheaper than a contract service like Dish.

      • Jen s.

We have YouTube tv too…. we just switched over from psvue. So far it’s just as good and $10 cheaper per month!

    • Daniela

Fubotv, lots of credit cards are offering cash back this month. I paid the first month with my Citicard, got $15 back, second third and fourth with Amex. Also $15 back each month. Once that ends I will switch to my other Amex for another 3 months of cash back. Channel options are great too, esp if you like sports or Bravo, Lifetime, Hallmark. DVR is only 30 hours though.

    • Halo

I’m so upset! The new packages don’t suit my wants and now it’s 10 bucks more for the ‘old’ package which I have had for only 1 month. Checking to see what AT&T offers .
      Grrr!

      • Garfield

        DirecTV Now is from ATT.

I was offered to keep my subscription but pay $10 more. I have the early adopters plan and the offer could be only for us. You have to check your email.

    • Ok

Hulu has a live tv option

  2. Christi

Nickelodeon and NickJr are gone!!! This is going to cause CHAOS in our household if my daughter can’t watch her Paw Patrol!

    • Casey

Same here! My daughter is going to be so mad! Also no HGTV, Animal planet, discovery, A&E or Food Network!! They are dropping so many channels. It’s crazy.

      • Jessa

When does this take place? It’ll be chaos here too and we need to cancel and find something else ASAP

      • Garfield

They are dropping channels from a specific provider, Viacom I believe.

    • jcarcher25

I’m right there with you! No other streaming services offer Nickelodeon. It does sound like we still get to keep the channels, but we still have to pay the extra $10/month😠

    • Kate

Old customers are grandfathered in, and get to keep old package, but pay $10 more a month. So for me $50 a month. It started at $35 a month about a year ago.

  3. candice

Why would anyone switch they dropped a lot of channels in order to include hbo. I’ve had DirecTV now since the start and only pay $40 now it’ll be $50 for one of the old top packages but how long can I keep my channels? Guess I’ll start looking around.

  4. Luna

Maybe they are doing this because of GOT

    • Garfield

True, they think they can draw customers. They should have never been allowed to buy Time Warner! We are paying for the hefty price now.

    • tahaji

They are changing to focus on offering the channels from companies they own now via TimeWarner such as Turner broacasting channels like TNT,TBS, Adult Swim, Cartoon network, CNN, etc.

  5. Rebecca

We used to have DirecTV Now, also tried Sling, one other I’m forgetting. Had them primarily for watching WWE. However we never watched them live, and Hulu has been the answer for us. Nothing else has even been close. And for a fraction of the price.

  6. amanda

We just switched to DirectvNOW 3 mos ago from regular Directv. We tried Hulu and Sling before choosing DirectvNOW, but none of the other options included ALL of the channels that we wanted. Thankfully we’re grandfathered in on our plan even though it’ll increase from $40 to $50 a month but if we end up getting pushed into the new DirectvNOW plans we’ll be out— the new plans are a JOKE. They drop a lot of the popular channels and we could care less about HBO 🙁 Not impressed.

    • Hilary

Right there with you. I’ll suck up the $10 increase to keep all of the channels we’re grandfathered in with. However, they take those away or raise it higher and we’re cancelling.

      • Jessa

How would you keep the channels you have now? if they stopped contracting with them I don’t see how any of us could keep our same channels

        • jcarcher25

I received an email from them, explaining that we do get to keep the channels as long as we don’t switch to a different package, but we still have to pay for the increase starting on 5/1/19.

  7. Casey Meyers

Hulu has a lot of cable shows not all. Some people will just have to go without watching certain show to get the low price. I love TLC shows but doing without because of Hulu’s low price.

    • Ok

Hulu is awesome. I don’t watch much live tv at all and rather choose what I want to watch when i want to. So streaming is perfect for me!

  8. Hope

I have sling now. Its been pretty good.

  9. Lolly

Check out IPTV options – that’s Internet Protocol TeleVision. There are loads of streaming services for as little as $10 a month. Just google it and you’ll start finding them. Avoid the big names like Hulu and direct – before you sign up for anything, research and checkout customer reviews. I’ve had an IPTV for 18 months now and it costs me $10 a month for 5 streams – all channels plus British tv and a lot more. My company is closed to new customers right now or else I’d give you their name. I had 2 other IPTV services before finding this one as loving it. Just be willing to experiment a little. Good luck!!!

  10. Hilary

This write up has a ton of missing information. Most importantly, if you are already a customer you will see a $10 increase to keep all of your existing channels. Stop panicking people. No channels are going away. For now. If you cancel, then you can never go back to what you had and would have to pick one of the new packages so don’t go quitting quite yet.

And if you have an unlimited AT&T wireless plan, you get HBO for free on DirectTVNow.

  11. Casey Meyers

Could care less about premium channels like HBO, Showtime ect.

  12. Lily

Thank you Hilary!!! My heart stopped when I started reading people’s posts on here about popular channels going away!!!

  13. Lily

I also have no interest in HBO!
