Oh how exciting! You’re SO very welcome! Happy Birthday to your son! Hope he loves it as much as my son loves his!

Good choice the Switch is great your son will love it =) Also you may wanna get a micro SD card to go along with it. Extra storage is a must have nowadays with the current game systems. The switch only comes with 32gb of internal memory, and some of it is taken already by the OS. So if you plan on getting some digital games for it then you’ll wanna get a decent sized SD card then. If you get the games physically from the store then the game will play directly off the game card instead of needing to download then you wont need to download them like with the ps4 and xb1. There are some decent deals often now for good SD cards. Amazon has a sale on Samsung micro sd cards. They have a Class 10 U3 128gb Micro SD card that works great with the switch, and a class 10 U (1-3) is what nintendo recommends to use with the switch for extra storage. Just a little heads up 😉 I’ll share the link with the Samsung SD card if im able to:

Does this include what you need to play it on the TV?

    • Joe

Yes it does, when you buy the Switch new it does include the TV dock stand. However, if you plan on getting a second switch dock stand for another room then you will want to be careful about what ones you choose. If you’r thinking about getting a 2nd tv dock for another room then you’ll def want to get the official Nintendo TV dock, and for good reason to. Because there have been reports last year about 3rd party docks from different companies that aren’t officially from Nintendo, that they brick the console, (the OS and all gets corrupted and it becomes unusable and Nintendo most likely wont fix it either since they aren’t liable for that and it becomes a dead paper weight then). You can still go for those cheaper 3rd party docks from diff companies (for example the ones you may see on amazon) but you may be risking your switch though. It’s best to go on the safe side and buy a second official tv dock from Nintendo for the other room then. Although the official dock is quite expensive itself for another one (almost 80$) there is at least another option to choose from. The Nintendo Switch TV dock from Insignia (Best buy’s brand) works with the switch and has no report of bricking anyone’s console so it is a good cheaper alternative if you wanna get another TV dock for your kids room or a different room. Its only 40$ as well. (I actually bought one myself the other week for my room and it works flawlessly and has a USB port on it to so you can plug in like a controller charger to next to it and maybe a switch controller – I haven’t tested it if it works with a switch controller yet) I’ll post the link to the Insignia switch dock if I’m able to
