Help! Please suggest a foundation and or concealer that works best for uneven skintone and little wrinkles, esp around eyes & lips. Ive tried a few but after they are on for a bit it either wears off quick or makes my little eye wrinkles more noticable and even a bit darker when it settles in. I need real people suggestions. While the ppl at ulta, or macys etc..are great at picking one out for me, after the initial application when i go home, it ends up not being a good choice at all. Then im stuck with another useless product. I want a lightweight product because at 41 im not trying to have a noticable amt of makeup on. Any recommendations would be fantastic! Thanks

      Hi,

I would recommend the IT CC cream. There are several different formulas to pick from according to your skin or finish preference. I am a makeup junkie and would be happy to answer any questions you have. Just for reference I am 36 and have been battling acne the past few years. Fun times!

I concur with the It Cosmetics recommendations. Get the CC cream, the Bye Bye Undereye concealer, and the Bye Bye Pores setting powder. With the under eyes concealer, the application is important. Most people having problems are applying too much. You just need a little bit, and let it warm on your skin first before spreading it over the area. With the setting powder, very light application is key as well. I’m in my 60’s and into a more natural look.

        • Swirlypop

Bye Bye pores setting powder is a great product!

      • SunniSoleil

Yes i might have to take you up on that. Its true when my bf says “i dont envy you girls and all this makeup confusion”. Im excited to try some of these. ❤

It cosmetics does not work well for my skin. I’m in my 50s and have some eye lines. For me Lancôme effacernes under eye concealer is awesome. Does not settle in lines and stays all day. My holy grail foundation is Chanel perfection lumiere velvet! Stays all day and does not settle in wrinkles. The 2 products work well together. I do have oily skin just an FYI.

I have the same issues. The only one that works well for me is MAC Studio Face & Body. Yes, it is pricy at $30 a bottle but a little drop goes a long ways. A friend who is a makeup artist for a major sports network recommended it. She said the key is to make sure my skin is very well moisturized just prior to putting it on. It evens out my skin and feels weightless. *I tried IT BB Cream but it made my lines and pores look worse.

I’m 42, have uneven skin tone, freckles (redhead), fine lines, and forehead wrinkles.

I love the clarins foundation it’s made purely out of flower extracts and natural products and is light weight and smells amazing.

If you have a Sephora store near you then you can bring home generous samples of any foundation to try out. I personally use and love NARS for full coverage that works well with my dry skin. Also, using a good primer prior to application and a blender sponge or foundation brush to apply can make worlds of difference. You can get samples of primers at Sephora too! YouTube is my go to source for tutorials on all things makeup. Good luck!

I would also recommend IT cosmetics. Their whole foundation line from CCs to press powders are made to not settle into the fine lines and wrinkles, give you great coverage, and you don’t look caked up 😀

Agree with the above recommendations! It cc cream foundation is the best! Love it! And I love the shape tape concealer. Always highly recommended by beauty bloggers!

    • Cassandra (Hip Sidekick)

Hi there, Heidirn! Since you mentioned Shape Tape, I wanted to let you know that it’s on sale at QVC.com through 3/31. You can also get $10 off your 1st order with the promo code TEN4U. You’ll need to add a small filler item to get your total to $25 but it’s a great way to save on Shape Tape, which rarely goes on sale if you need it.

You can return makeup, esp the high end at Ulta etc. if it isnt right for you

  5. Danielle

Just left the Ulta and Lipstick Queen is online only.

    • Cassandra (Hip Sidekick)

Whoops! You’re correct, Danielle. Thanks so much for the heads up! I have added that info to the post.

I cant thank everyone enough. I am looking forward to trying these. I agree that some of these can be pricey but at this point i keep spending but not able to use what i bought 🙄. I would be fine with the cost when i find my “gem” lol. I am one of the palest skintones ive ever seen. Which can be hard because most colors stick out like a sore thumb. I will take a trip to Ulta this week and im really excited. I may buy a couple options. Its silly but ive been really feeling down about this. The whole self conscious thing. Again I cant thank you all enough ❤

    • Kelley

I’m not sure of Ulta’s return policy but Sephora’s is awesome. I’ve returned several foundations and powders that we’re fine in the store but I didn’t wind up liking. They’ve never give me any hassle about it.

    • ~jenn~

I can’t really give an opinion on the suggestions made here for foundation. I can suggest getting a good primer to start. It will help with wear time and settling into wrinkles. It’s also just as customizable as foundation so make sure you know your skin type. Not knowing that can be the root of a lot of primer/foundation problems.
