Things are Heating Up at Walmart, So We’re Going Swimming!
Here comes the sun ☀️
This week, we’re going all out summer mode—loading on the sunscreen, breaking out the sunnies, and sharing some hot swimwear finds from none other than Walmart!
As you probably already know, we shop Walmart on Wednesdays for high-end clothing at a low-budget price. And while we’ve found cute jeans, tops, and even dresses, this week we’re really pushing the envelope and checking out their swimwear.
And let me tell you, we were impressed! I wouldn’t think of Walmart as my first place to shop for a new bathing suit or cover up, but on top of their fun selection of swimwear, they also have a ton of other summer essentials.
For instance, these floppy straw hats! These are just radiating summer vibes, and they’re under $5! Even sweeter, you can stock up on multiple color options for yourself, or give a couple to friends and family by scoring a 3-pack for only $12.
And what would summer be without a cute pair of sunglasses? Instead of buying an expensive designer pair that you spend all your time worrying about damaging, you can get multiple colors and styles from the huge assortment at Walmart. Some even have polarized lenses! I went with a pair from Piranha because stylish sunnies under $16 is a win to me! 🕶️
Traveling back and forth between the beach or pool calls for an easy access backpack, and this adorable striped tote I found by No Boundaries is the perfect pack for my phone, keys, wallet, sunscreen, and more. There are tons of other colors, patterns, and styles by this brand as well.
Okay now on to swimwear. I have to say, Time and Tru does it again with their fashion-forward pieces! I found a couple of tankini tops that are too cute. I love the high neck and design of this one, so I couldn’t pass it up!
In the summer, I live in comfy shorts, so this Time and Tru breathable swimming pair easily found their way into my cart. These are great for both on and off the beach!
Oh, and I can’t forget about their massive bin of flip flops! These sandals come in an arrangement of bright, fun colors – and the best part? They’re just 98¢! Just when I thought that Dollar Tree had the lock on cheap sandals, Walmart beats them by a couple of pennies. 😆
My swimwear:
- Time and Tru Women’s Dolman Sleeve Cover-Up – $16.88
- Time & Tru Straw Floppy Hat in Colors and Neutrals – $4.94 for single hat in-store, $12 for 3-pack online
- Piranha sunglasses – $15.88
- No Boundaries striped backpack (it’s not the exact striped pattern I have, but similar!) – $9.97
- Check for this bag in your local Walmart with Brickseek.
- Time and Tru Women’s Desert Bloom High Neck Tankini Top – $16.88
- Time and Tru Women’s Solid Swimsuit Short – $16.88
- Walmart Flip Flops – 98¢ (in-store only)
Stetson’s look
Stetson joined me on this Walmart trip and found some affordable swimwear of his own to get his wardrobe ready for the hot weather.
In fact, Walmart has a crazy good selection of men’s swim trunks! The George brand offers tons of colors and fun tropical patterns, so it was harder to narrow it down to just a couple of pairs to take home.
Even sweeter, they have a great selection of plain tees in store for only $3.44, BUT if you shop the same t-shirts on Walmart’s website, you can score them for only a buck! Seriously! Stock up on multiple colors for the men in your life for just $1 per shirt.
Stetson’s swimwear:
- George Men’s Short Sleeve Performance Tee – in store, $3.44 but only $1.00 online!
- George Men’s Hotdog Swim Short – $9.98
- George Men’s Novelty Cacti Swim Short – $9.98
- Walmart Flip Flops – 98¢ (in-store only)
Lina’s look
I am LOVING the suit and coverup that Lina picked out this week. They’re a perfect representation of her personality—bright, vibrant, and so much fun!
“I loved these two pieces! The suit is super flattering and comfy as a black and white suit is my comfort zone! And the coverup is the perfect addition of a pop of color and pattern. So easy to wear.” – Lina

Bonus! Lina’s daughter’s look
Walmart is especially great when shopping swimwear for the kiddos! They grow so fast so paying under $10 for a cute suit before they grow out of it is a no-brainer. I mean, how cute is this girl’s two-piece?!

Emily’s look
Our Hip2Save team member Emily is ready to hit the beach (though maybe a month too soon as the weather in her area isn’t quite warm enough yet 😆)! How pretty does she look?! I love it all!
“I didn’t think I would love the this No Boundaries suit as much as I do. But the cute knotted ties, ribbed fabric, and sage green color has me swooning over it! I’ll admit, the top was showing a bit more than I care to reveal, so I sized up, un-tied the knot, and re-tied it a bit tighter – and the fit is perfect! I love that the bottom ties are adjustable as well.
As for the coverup, I found it within the swimwear section, but online it’s actually advertised as a tunic top 😬Oh well! I think it works great as a light beach coverup, though it does have me wanting to pair it with a cami and leggings for an easy casual outfit.” – Emily
“At first, I had a really hard time finding a suit I liked on Walmart’s website, but I realized that I should have been checking out the Junior’s department online as well. They have so many trendy styles, colors, and patterns. Once I figured out where I should be looking, it was hard to pick just one. And sooo many pieces were under $9! 🤯” – Emily
Emily’s swimwear:
- No Boundaries Juniors’ Bunny Tie Rib Swimsuit Top – $7.96
- No Boundaries Juniors’ Bunny Rib Side Tie Swimsuit Bottom – $7.96
- Time And Tru Crochet Trim Kimono -$15.97
- Check in store with Brickseek
I love Lina’s daughter bikini and shorts. I also love Emily’s coverup with bikini and Stetson’s hot dog shorts! Also, those dirt cheap flip-flops are perfect for wearing around the pool at the house or at the beach. If you lose one it’s no biggie!
Yes! You’re right! We like to grab those flip flops each year for heading to the pool! Such a great deal!
I love Walmart Wednesdays! π
Yay! Happy to hear that! π€
I want the bird poop tee. Where did he get that? π
Hahaha, yes I need the bird poop T-shirt too π
I agree that is a really cute poop shirt.
Hi Kim! Stetson actually found it when we were working on our Hip2Poop site for April Fool’s Day! πYou can find the link for that shirt and other funny apparel in this post: https://hip2poop.com/product-reviews/best-poop-shirts-hats-slippers/
Hope that helps!
At my local Walmart, I found the 5 oz. bottles of Blue Lizard Sensitive Sunscreen for $7 AND they have a $2 off coupon inside the box, making it just $5 dollars for the 5 oz. bottles that normally retail for $14.98 – $19.99!!! I stocked up! LOVE that sunscreen! Just a heads up for all you Blue Lizard Sunscreen lovers!
It’s only the Sensitive kind, though, which is the same formula as their baby sunscreen..
Off topic…..question about your house, Colin. What color paints did you use for the gray room that you were photographed in?
I am currently painting but struggling with trim color. I like the gray with cream colored trim combination that you used
You should check out Sherwin Williams agreeable grey. You can either go with warm tones or cooler.
Hi there! That color is Cumulus Cloud 1550 by Benjamin Moore. π
Collin any tips on how to save on prescription sunglasses? They are so expensive, but I wear glasses and while some people like Transitions lenses, they are not my style. Thanks!
Kalynn, I’ve been wearing RX sunglasses for many years. For value (quality at a reasonable price), you can’t beat Costco (they top Consumer Reports optical reviews year after year for customer satisfaction) — BUT there are only 3 choices of sunglass tint there (gray, brown, and flash/mirror). They have a lot of great designer frames that make terrific sunglasses though! For hipster fashion, check out Warby Parker (order a box of five frames to try for a few days) — for an upcharge, they’ll tint them as sunglasses. For flat-out cheap, 39dollarglasses.com, zenni.com and other competitors (again, for an upcharge they’ll tint for you). Also, don’t forget to check to see if you can just reuse any quality designer sunglasses (non-prescription) that you already own and put RX lenses in them — I had a pair of RayBan Wayfairer sunglasses that were at least 5 years old that a local optician popped RX sunglass lenses into for me last year….custom tinting to my exact wishes, and cutting my cost by more than half over buying RayBan RX sunglasses.
Thanks for all of your help Maggie! Do you need to be a member though for Costco? I donβt think we have one near us. I definitely do not need anything fancy so 3 color options is fine for me.
Yes, you must be a member of Costco to buy glasses there.
Yes . .I too picked up a pair of the Piranha sunglasses (in case they get scratched or lost at the beach, then I haven’t sacrificed my favorite pair of sunglasses). π
Love these Walmart posts!
I found a pair of shorts, two bras and a pair of shoes today for $1 each and a shirt for $3, lots of clearance right now!
I bought the same coverup in the Navy blue 2 weeks ago and I love it! You can actually wear it as a dress! So cute and reasonably priced! Walmart is stepping up their game!
I’ve got a few bikini tops that have those ties in the front like Emily bought…but when I lay on my stomach the knot hurts my breastbone. The look is really cute and I still wear them but always untie the top if on my stomach, and try not to flash anyone while doing it haha π. Love the one you got πand also the yellow cactus shorts.
I love Emily’s hat! Is it from Walmart too? Thanks!
Collin i love to see you and Stestson shop!! You all need to video tape your trip to walmart next time. ππ₯° yall find the cutest things!
Thanks for the suggestion, Brenda! SO glad you are enjoying the videos! β€
