You won’t necessarily get 8,000 points. You will get a minimum of 5,000 points to a maximum of 8,000 points, depending on how many base points are earned from the two stays. The gift cards for this promotion normally cost more than 8,000 points. The bonus points don’t expire. The discounted gift card prices expire 9/30/19. If you choose the right hotel, you can get more value out of 8,000 points by using them for a free night.

Does anyone know if this will work on existing reservations? I have two separate stays already booked and just registered for this promotion.

    • Brenda

I think I read you need to be registered before check in, so it should but you might want to double check

    • Sara

      Yes.

The terms and conditions at the bottom of the promotion page only mention these restrictions:

Stays at vacation rental property locations and stays booked with the SEGEN and SRTLG rate codes do not qualify for promotional bonus points.

The T&Cs don’t explain what a points-eligible stay is. Other sites explain this.

      From FrequentMiler on boardingarea. com:

Most stays are eligible to earn Choice Privileges points EXCEPT: rooms booked at rates below $40 USD per night, certain hotel initiated promotions, reward night stays, complimentary rooms, rooms paid for as part of a convention or meeting, rooms booked through a third party online retailer including online travel agencies, wholesale packages, group tours, and stays booked using the employee discount or the friends and family discount.
Stays at vacation rental property locations and Choice Hotels properties in the following countries are excluded from this promotion: Japan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Guyana, and Ecuador.

Can you book through a third party like Hotels.com and get points still?

    • Sara

      No.

    • Sara

Third party bookings are never eligible to earn points.
