There are two ways you can choose to interview with VIPKID. You can either book an interview for a 30-minute session where you showcase your teaching skills to a VIPKID recruiter. Or, you can record an interview with your demo lesson so that a VIPKID recruiter can evaluate you.
To be successful at the VIPKID interview, here are a few tips:
- Practice the demo lesson PPTs.
- Take a look at VIPKID’s Applicant Performance Indicators so you know what they’re looking for in candidates.

What is the difference with Gogokids? Are the hours the same?

I too love teaching with VIPKid!! I had a baby in December and have cut back my teaching quite a bit. I love that I have the freedom to do that! When I open a slot, it fills and normally with my regular students. I look forward to my weekly classes with them! We have really gotten to know each other and spend the first few minutes of class catching up on the week since we have seen each other. It’s a great company and an even better way to earn money from home!

I started working with VIPKID 2.5 months ago (I saw it posted here!) and wish I had started long ago. It’s been a tremendous blessing to us. I wake up early and teach before my husband goes to work. I have earned a little over $1,000 a month since starting. Thank you Hip2save team! It’s so difficult to stay at home and raise 3 kids. This helps!
I’ve been working with VIPKID about 1.5 years! Love the flexibility, however it is NOT likely you will make $22/hour. Probably at most $16/hr. Maybe in time.. if you get a raise, which doesn’t happen for years!
I make $20/hr without SN classes- $24/hr with short notices. I have only been working for VIPKid since January and teach about 60 classes a month so it’s absolutely possible to make what they advertise. You are in control of your own schedule so the hourly rate you make is your base plus incentives and you can easily get to $20 plus per hour. I actually have a student and his mom coming to visit me this summer! It’s so fulfilling- I waited 2 years after hearing about this job before I decided to try it. I wish I would have started 2 years ago! Easy money and you feel good making a difference in a child’s life!
I make an an average of $21 an hour. Yes $22 or more can be done!
I started in June of 2018 and I made $20 per hour right out of the gate. And, I only had one year of teaching experience as a preschool teacher.

If you start at the average rate of $8/class, earn the $1/class completed class bonus, and qualify for the $1/class for teaching 45+ classes a month bonus, you will earn $20/hour from the start. If you open and fill short notice slots, you can earn an extra $2/class ($4/hour). Factor in incentive pay and trial class conversions, and you can earn even more. I’ve been teaching for just three weeks and have earned over $1200.

Tricia -You’d be teaching kids in China (with a 12 hour time difference) so teaching during the day isn’t really an option since it’s the middle of the night there.

The times are typically evening time in Beijing, China. You can use worldtimebuddy.com to compare any time zone to another. So imagine after school through late evening for most kids. They often do mornings on the weekend or vacation too.

I wouldnt be surprised if half these comments are robots or something. They are all very similar comments and they all have a referral codes at the end.
Hands down best side gig or job for a stay at home parent/part timer/or anyone wanting to make extra money on weekends or early mornings! I have been with VIPKID for almost two years and love it!! I am a preschool teacher and I work my VIPKID classes on Saturday and sunday monrnings before my kids wake up and during the week occasionally before school drop off. It has been a blessing to be able to meet the kids I teach and make great money for little to no prep work. You do need a bachelors degree in anything and experience with children (can be your own).
Class pay is about 8-11 dollars for 25 min. so $16-22 per hour.

What are they looking for in terms of teaching experience? You mention that the experience with children can be with your own but the post says traditional teaching experience. I am asking because I have a 3 and a 4 year old and a bachelor degree but I have never taught in the traditional sense. Thanks!

I’ve been considering applying for VIPKID but have been hesitant due to their schedule requirements and needing one year of teaching. I haven’t taught kids per se but I have taught adults on using programs at my old job. Would this qualify as teaching?
the schedule is flexible!!!! Teach when you want within the hours of awake time in China. East coast is 12 hour difference. I teach mainly 6am-9am. That would be teaching experience then I would any interaction you have had with children (rec dept coaching, church activities, your own children, anything that you could qualify as interaction and teaching children. It doesn’t have to be traditional classroom teaching. You do need a 4 year degree in anything!

It’s not an MLM. Teachers get $100 referral incentive if someone gets hired using their link. It’s no scam but it’s not easy to get hired so people need help so they don’t give up.
It is 100% not MLM. That’s why I do it. It is super legit. I was able to stop my teaching job as a part time special ed. teacher and be home with my kids. No selling junk and exploiting family and friends! Woot woot.

Yes! As long as you are willing to work the hours available there is plenty to get to $2000/ month. I usually make just over $2000 from April through October because during that season the time change fits best with my lifestyle. The rest of the year I choose to work less and make around $1400. But how much you work is up to you. Some people make much more. It really is a great job. Best of luck!
