Johnsonville Sausage is voluntarily recalling 95,000 pounds of its Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausage due to the possibility that it may contain bits of hard green plastic which could potentially be a choking hazard.

Currently, Johnsonville has only received one report of plastic being found in this sausage, but due to the size of the plastic found, the voluntary recall was deemed necessary.

Check your fridge for 14oz maroon-colored packages that have a “best by” date of 06/09/2019, and “EST.34224” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Note that if you’ve recently purchased Jalapeno Cheddar Smoked Sausage in the red, white and blue seasonal packaging, that is safe to consume.

The USDA says that consumers who have purchased these products are urged to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
