collin wearing time and tru linen shorts

Can we all just agree linen is the official fabric of summer?

From bathrobes to bed sheets, linen makes what can otherwise become heavy and hot feel like a light and airy oasis. These comfy Time and Tru linen shorts are no exception.

In the summer heat, having clothes stick to your body in a sweaty mess is not a good look. That’s why this pair of linen shorts is the answer to all of our overheated woes. Reviewers mentioned they stayed cool and comfortable in these shorts – even when 100ºF weather heat was in play. ☀️

The silhouette is more relaxed and we love the comfy drawstring waist (rather than a tight button and zipper), so it’s perfect for an easy-going outfit. Just add a pretty top and strappy sandals to dress these up for an elevated look that keeps you cool!

There are also multiple colors to choose from. We’re partial to the fun stripes, but the neutral solids look just as nice. If you’re having a hard time deciding between styles, the under $10 price point is all the reason to pick up two pairs! Why pay 5 times that amount elsewhere?

I wonder if they sell them in 5 inches??

    • Becca

They don’t. I almost bought a pair a few weeks ago, but wanted them to be longer. Sad face.

  2. Alyssa

I picked up a pair of these for a trip in April. I’ve been thinking I want to grab another pair for our cruise in a few weeks!

  3. nickyB

I got a pair last week in black and love them. They washed up really well too, unlike the linen pair I bought at Old Navy that cost more.

    • Gisette

I was wondering about that. ON linen shorts shrinks 🙁

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Good to know how well these wash up! Thanks for sharing with us! I can’t wait to grab these!

    • Nee

Thanks for mentioning that. I just bought the ON linen shorts but haven’t taken the tag off yet! Maybe I’ll have to get these Walmart ones.

  4. Carole

I bought these a few weeks ago and love them! I do wish they came in a little bit longer inseam, but they wash and wear perfectly.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Yay! SO glad you are loving yours, Carole! Thanks for taking the time to comment!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      You’re welcome, Tracy! 🙌

  7. Allison

These are cute! Thank you for posting! Does anyone know the length? Maybe I missed it!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

You’re welcome, Allison! I don’t find a specific length listed. You could always click through to the photos on the product page to get an idea of how long they are.

    • Alese

They’re pretty short. I bought my 11yr old a few pairs, she’s 5ft tall, 100lbs and they’re like just barely long enough that’s I would not consider them booty shorts

  8. Anna

Are these from Walmart? I didn’t see where to get them.

    • Daniela

Time and Tru is a Walmart brand but the store is also noted in the Hip Tip section of the post.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes! These are from Walmart! You can find them through the link in the post!

  9. Colorado Amy

When I hear linen I think wrinkles. Do these need to be ironed after being washed? I don’t iron, so I usually pass on linen, but these look super cute and I’m looking for new shorts for the summer.

  10. LuvtoSave

I have to say… Collin that jean jacket you posted a couple weeks ago, I absolutely Love it!!! I had been looking and looking and I just love it! So a big thank you!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Woohoo! You’re very welcome! That’s SO awesome to hear! Glad you are loving it!

  11. Jami

I bought 3 just the other day! LOVE THEM!

  12. Erika

Any thoughts on tops to pair with these shorts? Thanks in advance!

    • Anna

I am going to wear mine with a tank top, but I also think it will be cute with a cotton t-shirt. Also if your out and it gets colder it would be cute with a denim jacket 😊

    • Sann

I just bought shoes on poshmark that I think will be cute with them.🤞 they are Sam Edelman gretchen gladiator.

    • Jami

I just paired mine with cotton tanks and t-shirts.

  13. Ashley

I like the *idea* of linen but it always falls flat in the wardrobe department. Shrinks…wrinkles…looks terrible after a single wash. I’m skeptical but it’s only because of bad experiences

    • Sarah

I’m with you! Looks nice on a hanger and junky looking after the first wash. Can someone come do my laundry and make them look nice again?!? lol

  14. Amy

I’m also wondering if these wrinkle after washing. Can someone who owns these comment? I’ll definitely buy them if they don’t need to be ironed with every wash.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Amy! Linen is naturally wrinkled. If you like a less wrinkled look, you could use a handheld garment steamer. We have one listed in this post to give you an idea. I personally use that one and it’s fast and easy.

    • JD

Always wash in cold water. Remove immediately from washer and place garment seam to seam. Take your hands and smooth the fabric flat than hang on the line seam to seam keeping the hand crease. Takes only a minute or two. There is no need to iron and the casual look is the great appeal of linen. Someone else mentioned shrinkage. It is a natural fiber so some shrinkage is expected. If there is a ton of shrinkage than the manufacturer did not wash the fabric before cutting and sewing which is a huge no no. Return to the store for your money back and complain about the shoddy manufacturing. That being said, cold water and line drying is best practice for linen.

  15. Lisa

Any bigger ladies tried these yet? Looks like the sizes can go up to 3x, but I don’t usually do well with softer materials.

    • Jess

LOL, Lisa I was wondering the same! Thanks for posting what size they go up to!!

    • Laura

I looked at them in store today. Way too short for to look good in larger sizes. At least *I* wouldn’t wear them.

  16. Karen

Can anyone confirm the inseam length on these? My daughter wants some linen shorts but we I prefer a 4 or 5 inch inseam for her.

    • Nee

I just tried some on today after seeing this post. It was about a 2-3 inch inseam.

      • Karen

That’s a bummer. I think they look longer on the model because they wear them so low. My daughter wears everything like it’s high wasted and would have these pulled up to be short shorts. Thank you for your response!
