ToysRUs store front with people

I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a ToysRUs kid!

If you were upset when ToysRUs and BabiesRUs stores shut down last year, we have good news!

According to an article published by Bloomberg, ToyRUs stores are set to return this holiday season by opening about six stores in the United States and even an e-commerce site!

These stores will be about 10,000-square feet (that’s a third of the size of the original stores that closed last year) and may have interactive features and play areas.

We’re hoping to hear more details in the next few months about the possible store locations (and crossing our fingers they are near us), so we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we know more!

Hip2Save readers sure do miss ToysRUs. Here’s why:

I loved their Koala baby stuff – shoes and blankets. We had a ton! I was sad to see that aspect go! I also loved as an expecting parent to 1) have my own parking spot and 2) be able to walk around a baby store and physically touch and try the baby gear! We live in a smaller town and it was really the only place that had any type of variety for gear.

Fingers crossed they re-open because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to just go browse the aisles of TRU & BRU for fun in the last few months. The only place we have with baby and kids items is Target and they have very limited inventory and are usually sold out/not restocked.

There’s something special about being able to take my kids on a trip to “the toy store!” Sure, we can go to Walmart and Target, but we’re there all the time. I look forward to having the option back. Now if they’ll only have the same after holiday clearance sales on kids clothing like BabiesRUs used to have, I’d be in heaven! I used to get amazingly cheap and awesome deals there!

I’m really excited. Though I can’t say I shopped ToysRUs exclusively or even often, I loved having it as an option, or just to go stroll in with my daughter. I’d usually end up buying something! It was definitely a big part of my childhood, after KB Toys was gone especially. I am so glad they fought to keep something magical alive. I hate to see all these brands I’ve grown up with keep disappearing because they can’t adapt!

(Thanks, Benjamin!)

We drove by the old Babies R Us the other day and I was reminiscing, we had registered there for all our 3 babes, now we have #4 on the way.. and I was thinking how I wanted to go back and do that all again with my girls!

We miss walking down the aisles to see toys! The choices at Walmart just isn’t the same.

I’m not excited cuz I know my town won’t be getting one. We had one that survived til the end but figured once it’s gone it’s not coming back.

nothing more exciting than being a child and earning that trip to the toy store where you have saved for that coveted item. online shopping does not bring the same joy. we loved toys r us, and we never paid full price for things, always sales or rewards.

It closed because it was expensive and no one shopped there. Sooo.. they’re just gunna open another one and do the same thing? 🤔 cool
