Has Your Apple MacBook Pro Been Recalled?
Own a MacBook Pro? Read this!
Apple recently issued a recall of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units which contain a battery that may overheat and pose a safety risk. The models being recalled were sold from September 2015 through September 2017 and the recall does not affect any other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or other Mac notebooks.
Is your MacBook Pro part of the recall?
- Confirm which model you have by choosing About This Mac from the Apple menu () in the upper-left corner of your screen
- If you have “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015),” enter your computer’s serial number here to see if your model is recalled
- If it is indeed part of the recall, stop using it and head here to find out how to have the battery replaced, free of charge.
(Thanks, Ben!)
Thank you for posting this. I saw it on the news and promptly forgot about it.
You’re so welcome, Tonya! Glad to help!
Thank you for posting! My entire office uses MacBook Pros, and I think we’re going to find several of ours affected by this 😩
Oh bummer! You’re very welcome!
It’s just a battery replacement – no big deal
The battery is what makes these Apple products die fast. And makes you need to upgrade. A new battery is a new device.
It’s a very big deal!!
They need it for three weeks or even more, because it has to travel only by land as the chance of it bursting into flames is so high.
We have encrypted and personalised info which means I have to go and buy another laptop as am working in Australia and can’t take it on the plane and can’t use it !!!!!
