You can buy non-OEM toner cheap on Amazon or eBay. Just be sure to read the reviews. I bought 3 for $30 and it worked fine.
When you bought the non EOM toner, did you buy the ones with the IC Chip, or without the IC Chip?

The ink doesn’t dry out on these right? I don’t print that often and I’m tired of wasting ink
No, it does not. It uses toner which does not dry out like ink does.
I purchased this one as well for the same price and LOVE IT! Purchase replacement cartridges on eBay and got a great price. Well worth the $. I keep a small separate printer for color projects.
