Walmart will roll out the “rollbacks” to counter Amazon Prime Day.

Ever since Amazon officially released the date of its fourth annual Prime Day (July 15, by the way), we’ve seen a steady parade of challengers come forward with plans to offer counter-deals of their own. The latest to enter the ring is Walmart, with plans to release thousands of “special buys” and “rollbacks” between July 14th and 17th – valid online only.

Walmart joins a growing list of other retailers (like Target and eBay) who are planning to launch their own Amazon Prime Day counter attacks.

It’s becoming a summer tradition for major retailers to outdo each other with dueling deals, and we’re here for it!

It’s no wonder this time of year is becoming known as “Black Friday in July.”

What to expect from Walmart’s Sale

Although Walmart hasn’t released a full list of the sale items they plan to offer, the company has dropped a few hints. We can expect to see discounts of over $100 on items like the HP 15.6-inch HD Touch Display Laptop and the Dyson Multifloor Bagless Upright Vacuum. We’ll be watching closely for more details, and we’ll share the best deals with you as soon as they’re announced!

I think this is one fight we all want to see, yay! See who has the best deals😀😀😀
(P.s. by fight I mean stores competing so we can benefit from their deals, NO violence intended😀)

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I am hoping for some awesome deals, Melissa!

Good. Prime day is mostly a joke where they try and “clearance” out the random junk they can’t sell anyways. Every year I stalk their page but have yet to find anything I want for sale on prime day.

    • laura

I agree! I spend more time hunting for a solid deal on “regular” merchandise

    • snpy496

I thought I was the only one who felt this way.

    • Josie

I agree. On Prime Day, Amazon pushes their own devices (Echo, etc.) and worthless junk.

Bwahahaha, my husband was just saying the same thing word or word and then I read your post…so true, so true.

Good! Amazon needs some competition. I think it’s ridiculous they raised the price on their prime membership. Many stores offer free shipping anyway once you get past a certain amount and during the holidays with no minimum purchase. I think this may be our last year with amazon prime.

I canceled my membership in January and I don’t miss it at all. I prefer to buy from the local stores so I can return an item for free if I decide that I don’t like it. With Amazon I had to pay shipping fee unless the item was defective.

      • cathy

I have never paid to return an item to Amazon. And I have returned a lot. I just make sure I click Prime shipping items only ( I won’t pay for shipping anywhere ) and they are always items that return for free. In fact I bought a $37 prize wheel that I started a return for and they said just keep it and we will refund you your payment. I luv Amazon Prime. awhile back and went to return

      You know it, Bran Mor!

  5. Mari

Geezs I feel left out maybe I should have a yard sale on prime day 😂

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

      LOL

All I am looking for is a deal on a counter top ice machine and a deep freezer, maybe a new fridge. I am a single mom of 4 and bought my first house a few months ago. These kids are getting older and my grocery cart is getting fuller.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Congrats on the new house, CamiW! We will make sure to post all the best deals!

    • Java

Sears. They have lots of deals PLUS cash back that you can use for groceries at Kmart. Hopefully those stores exist near you 🙂

    • Christina Rexroad

I wish you lived in this area I have a nice fridge to sell but I am in Washington state.

    • cat

Sams Club ( if you have one ) has a small refrigerator for $179 right now. Its bigger than the ones for like dorm rooms and such. And it has a freezer.

  7. Mika

Yay! This is what I was waiting for! I prefer Wal-Mart over Amazon because I don’t have to have a membership to get free shipping and great deals. I can’t wait to see what they’ll have. I hope Best Buy jumps in on this too.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Oh! That would be awesome! We’ll watch for Best Buy, Mika!

Amazon needs a lot of competition. I would rather give my money to walmart or target who are employing human workers instead of year after year replacing more & more workers with robots which amazon is doing. Jeff Bezos investing hugely in robots & I am so not cool with that. Walmart & target are not doing that. Greed & greed & greed.

    • Robin

      Self-checkout?
Amazon employs a huge number of warehouse workers where I live, and is hiring delivery drivers.
Every retail store has their eye on the dollar.

  9. Go Zags

Target & Walmart aren’t doing yet. I can see them using robots in the future.

  10. Kristie Speakman

Ok, I’m gonna say it. I HATE,HATE,HATE shopping on Wal-Mart’s website. When I search for anything it seem like all I get are items sold by third party sellers. If I go to Wal-Mart’s website I want to purchase my items from Wal-Mart, not from Joe Shmoe’s whatnot shop (with $14.99 shipping). It is nice that they want to compete with Target and Amazon but I’ve had it with their website. I doubt I will buy anything from Wal-Mart.

    • Kristie Speakman

And yes I know Amazon has a ton of third party sellers but I expect that from Amazon. That has been their business model for years.

    • cathy

Totally agree! I never liked Walmart but hate all the 3rd party sellers with high prices, shipping fees and no returns. And Target is doing it too! I am so pissed about that.
